Yes!  Didn't recognise him!  Not sure how he got the gig - haven't seen or heard from him for years!

Christina Unkel backtracking furiously on her earlier opinion.
But also saying the defender’s slight touch on the ball meant it wasn’t a ‘clear and obvious error’ but she’s still talking about when it’s ok to ‘step into an opponent’s space’, apparently ignoring the fact that the touch on the ball meant it was a legal tackle and not an error at all.
FFS. Just admit you missed the touch on first viewing. You’re only human. An intensely irritating human, but still.

A massive success in MLS, so will have decent knowledge about the North American players.

Davies may just make an impact although 2 men on him already

Hopefully that means we don't have to sit through another 30 mins of this

Not exactly a thriller but probably the better team has won it.

Good for Canada to reach a World Cup RO16.

Can’t see them laying a glove on either Netherlands or Morocco but they do have a lot of pace going forward.

    Take that SA !

You deserve to lose just for passing it around the back on 89 mins. Then threw everything at it on 92 mins when you found yourselves losing.

    🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

WTF was that interview with the Canadian player at the end with the interviewer mentioning that he had lost his parents and child in the last 2 years. Bizarre

Makes you wonder if DR Congo might play a similar game as SA, basically playing for pens from minute 1. Much like the Ghana/Panama games, we might struggle to break them down and it will make for a difficult watch.

It was an odd one, especially as his daughter hasn't died so the reporter should have worded it better.

His mum died of brain cancer, then his dad of a heart attack a year later. Separate to that his daughter was born recently and he's made a big thing about how his family, football and career are intertwined.

South Africa look poor, I dont think they've had a genuinely good team since the one that won AFCON in 1996.
A lot of their squad come from Mamelodi Sundowns who have reached the last two African Champions league finals, losing the first, winning the latest one, so they clearly have some talent there.

The issue is that in modern day football, you probably need your players to be playing in the bigger leagues and only 7 of their squad play outside South Africa.

Compare that to Canada who despite being considered a relatively small nation in footballing terms, have an entire squad that play in the MLS or in Europe.

Nice to see Alphonso Davies finally be fit enough to make an appearance for Canada. He is probably Canada's star man (plays for Bayern) but injury has prevented him getting any minutes at all until last night.

Every time I look at at a Canada match, that Cornelius fella is missing a great chance

Best set of games last night. Some cracking end to end matches and quality goals. Hopefully that continues as we reach the knockouts.
That Jordan goal was a beaut.
If England don't make it, which looks increasingly likely, then I'd like an Argentina v France final, the two most impressive sides so far.
Would like to see Argentina win it for Messi. Their performances so far look like a procession for the GOAT.
And I’d like to see Shakira perform at The Final. It would be so good for her to get some recognition.

The knockout stage always feels like a completely different tournament. You can look brilliant for three group games, then one mistake and the whole thing is gone.
