  •  The Met Life in 2014, a rare picture in that the Giants won!

Lived down the road from there but that was before it got redeveloped/rebuilt.
  • Two games per day over the first two days of the tournament (11th and 12th June).

Four games per day between 13th June and 23rd June.

Six games per day (double headers) between 24th June and 27th June.

    72 games in a 17 day span.

First round of fixture venues now that the host nations have been placed into groups…

    - 11/06/26: Mexico v A2 (Mexico City), A3 v A4 (Guadalajara)

    - 12/06/26: Canada v B2 (Toronto), USA v D2 (Los Angeles)

    - 13/06/26: B3 v B4 (San Francisco), Group C x2 (Boston, New York), D3 v D4 (Vancouver)

    - 14/06/26: Group E x2 (Philadelphia, Houston), Group F x2 (Dallas, Monterrey)

    - 15/06/26: Group G x2 (Los Angeles, Seattle), Group H x2 (Miami, Atlanta)

    - 16/06/26: Group I x2 (New York, Boston), Group J x2 (Kansas City, San Francisco)

    - 17/06/26: Group K x2 (Houston, Mexico City), Group L x2 (Toronto, Dallas)

Mexico will play in Mexico City & Guadalajara before returning to Mexico City.

Canada will play in Toronto before two games back to back in Vancouver.

Similar to Mexico, the US team will play in Los Angeles and Seattle before returning to Los Angeles for the final group game.
  • The handling of the Uruguay v Colonbia game in the Copa America and the 82 minute delay for the final in Miami has reflected badly on USA security at the matches plus the pitches have come in for criticism....hopefully it will get sorted for 2026......

Pitches in the US need to be made bigger to conform with FIFA rules. Also, the Copa America tournament in general was pretty shambolic compared to the Euros. A lot of the officiating was questionable, they seemed to be using older technology for VAR, and lots of games seemed to end up in a brawl at some stage or another. Maybe it’s the Latin temperament, I don’t know, but sometimes the games were like a battlefield.

It will need to improve for the World Cup.
  • Hope you've patented that idea in case it gets stolen.

I've only been to the Vancouver stadium on that list but it's a great venue and right in the downtown area.

I think it's relatively close to the alarming homeless drugged up crowd.

That's when the England fans turn up.

Sounds a hell of a lot more interesting than the euros. Shame I didn't get a chance to see any of it.

South American qualifiers also tend to have that ‘battlefield’ feel to the matches.

Now the Euros is out the way, I’m trying to get my head around how 2026 is going to be viable for your average supporter. In most scenarios you’re going to need to fly between games, and in the knockout stages you don’t know where you’ll be until the groups are done.

Going to additional games beyond England matches will be near impossible, again, unless you’re willing to fly somewhere each time to do it.

Germany was a breeze in comparison. The last 11 days I spent out there I just improvised as I went along, with no issue. And in terms of logistics, Qatar was an absolute dream for a tournament goer.
  • I wouldn't worry about it Tom we won't qualify now Sir Gareth isn't at the helm.

I wonder how many Yanks are confused by the fact it's called the World Cup but it's not just full of teams from various US Cities
    And sometimes Canada!

That Copa America is a joke. Last time the World cup was in the States I seem to recall it was very successful?

They had those awesome massive goal nets, meaning goals just looked better.
  • Can someone please explain when the qualifiers are for the European countries as it appears we have Nation League matches this autumn.

I really have no clue nowdays what is what.

Nations League is September, October and November internationals. So March 2025 at the earliest if we win our group, later than that in June 2025 if we're involved in playoffs etc.

Live football every days for almost 30 days. 4 matches a day for the group stage period.

Have the Kick off times be confirmed yet. 2PM, 5PM, 8PM, 11PM etc?

I didn’t realise it was that many matches. Especially with the new round of 32 & 3rd place qualifying in some groups.
Be interesting to see the TV timing as not sure its sustainable for anyone in Europe to watch all matches if some are starting at 1GMT. Probably have to be pick the good ones to watch and just don’t watch the guff games.

IMO, as someone who’s been 2 group stages matches at 2016,20 &24 Euros. I can’t see any chance I would attend a group stage match, because feel they have lost their importance as basically guaranteed for England to get through.

Opening game Mexico v England at Mexico City would probably be a bucket list kind of occasion.
  • Kick off times aren’t expected to be confirmed until the end of 2025. Think some of the stadiums will be air conditioned so they can look at doing midday starts (which are then favourable for European television).

From memory, the vast majority of USA 1994 games were midday or afternoon games (only few evening games local time).

That’s right. It actually looked beautiful on television at the time. But the heat will be unbearable in those stadiums that don’t have the air conditioning.

    Sorry, still doesn't help.

Do we (England) have a proper WC qualifying campaign (like getting knocked out by Hungary in 1973)  ? If so, is this separate to the Nations League or part of it ?

Saw the Qualifying format was changing slightly for UEFA, changing to 12 groups of 4/5 with winners going through and runners up making the playoffs alongside some Nations League best placed sides. Do we know anything about the seeding yet? Concerned if they do it based on nations league then we would not be a pot one team which could result in us drawing Germany/Spain etc which would be a real tough task for any new manager
