Pirelli type nude calendars. When / where did you last see them in the workplace?

I went into the local steel stockists / fabricators and was somewhat surprised to see various steel stock supplying companies annual nude calendars, were taking up wall space at every workstation.

Even though it is most definately a blokeish working environment it still pricked up the PC monitor in the back of the head. None of the calendars even had so much as a scaffold pole in sight, to cover their modesty.......

So, where and when was anyone's most recent experience of these corporate gems?

  • I was lucky enough to get a work trip to a manufacturer in Budapest in 2017, beautiful city and they spoilt us at lots of restaurants and trips but it was weird when on their office tour every other room we went in had tits and bush up on the walls, very weird for all of us politically correct snowflakes….
Didn’t think it still existed in the UK…
  • I never have agreed with them.

I had a discussion with an old boss and said with more women in the workplace these should be taken down, I then said how would he feel if there geezer calendars all around the office if he worked in a female dominated environment.
  • Bloody snowflakes, I don’t complain because my doctor’s receptionist has a cliff richard calendar up! Stop the world, I want to get off.

You might if the calendar had him with his Zimmer frame in one hand, and his shrivelled winkie in the other.
    Cliffist...

He could not see why women may be offended, I had said our company calendars should be of cars or places around the country.

I also threw in he was a sexist, homophobic pig.
  • Remember back in the day the women in the office brought in the ‘For Women’ porno and were brazenly ogling Ian Walker but then kicked off when one of the blokes in the office brought in Mayfair and sat down reading it in the staff room with them one lunchtime
  • Haven't seen one for ages.  But I do have some insight. Years ago, a company we used in Derby to produce our desk calendars and diaries (another memory from the past) also had the contract to print the Mayfair calendar.  (And others - including their own in-house girlie calendar which could have a company's details over-printed on it).

Anyway, the print firm rather than the magazine publishers got to choose the January through December models from among the young ladies that had featured in the previous 12 months' magazines.  The art director told me he had to trawl through 1000s of photos to choose the ones he wanted.  And they sometimes used the same models but set up new, different poses; for example if he was not that keen on Mayfair's Christmas edition.  It was a tough job but someone had to do it.  It seems that the models' contracts with the magazine included a hefty bonus if they featured in the calendar.  Some of them were then also employed on stands at various trade shows and were "incredibly thankful" if they were selected.

The art director also told me the "science" behind the choices. Their aim was that random blokes dragged off the street to see the proposed product would have to like a minimum of 9-10 of the photos selected for the 12 months:  we all have our different tastes.  But there were always a number of stalwarts.  An even mix between blondes and brunettes, maybe one or two redheads or perhaps a BAME model.  Then there was the style. A sporty pose; always a leather/plastic adorned busty blonde; an outdoor shot; always a youthful looking model in schoolgirl attire, pigtails and wearing trainers (yes, I know); another in stockings and high heels; different hair lengths; a Christmas set; large breasts/small breasts; a rear view...anyway you get the idea.

What struck me some years later is that it was probably this self-same selection process that put together The Spice Girls which is disturbing isn't it?

May I present my suggestion for January, the Fiat Multipla, although the bodylines  aren't that desirable imo 😎

I have always felt the same, for the same reason, even when it was normal to have them. I do recall in an office I worked in some years ago, a lot of the female staff were going out to see male strippers and were joking and talking about it all day. I didn't feel uncomfortable, but did think how it would look if the men in the office did the same with female strippers.

To the 'great band names' thread!
  • Could see Liz Truss wheeling out one of these as part of her Leadership campaign. ‘Hi boys. Adorn your wall with my flak jacket and tank special!’
  • Back in the mid to late 1980's I was a regular visitor to a large paint manufacturers in Manchester spending a fortune each month and was always well looked after by their directors. During one visit I bumped into one of the bosses in the car park and he said to come with him for a coffee with a wink and a mischievous smile, intrigued I followed. Instead of the staff canteen we headed in to one of the huge production buildings and one small area was screened off with a couple of burley security blokes stood outside, being with a director we were let through.

I walked through and there in front of me, stood totally stark naked was the utterly gorgeous P3 model Suzanne Mizzi about to start a photo shoot for their company calender! She hopped on a swing surrounded by cans of paint and swung away for the camera and between takes she just chatted to anyone without a stitch on and without a care in the world. For you youngsters on here she is worth a google!

She tragically died in her early 40's from cancer.

Beaten to it by Angela Rayner by all accounts.

  • Back then, working in an engineering environment, most of the ladies had flanges on display.
  • Not sure if I’m offended or not?

    Have you got pictures?
