I injured my ankle ligaments in 2021, I still can't run regularly. Hopefully his is a lot more minor.
Tbf i'm sure the amount of investment and expertise in his recovery will be incomparable to yours
You've not been a Charlton fan for long have you?

I did mine in June. Still can't run properly and I keep injuring other things on my other leg trying to take the weight off it/overcompensating. A real bitch of an injury!

So may be this will force Sandagaard into the transfer or loan market in January.
He should be searching now for a good replacement and negotiating soon.

Some journeyman to replace Leaburn maybe, because he will be sold then. It is the only way Tommy can cut his losses.

At least they will not be selling Leaburn in the January transfer window.
You would guess that he will take 3 to 6 months to recover from such a serious injury. The club must not rush it.
Those who want Kanu. He is not ready for first team football

I'm not sure anyone else has said he will be out for that long.

Garner has said probably out for more than a month. Hopefully that doesn't mean three months plus.
50 years ago. Playing rugby I fractured both tibular and fibular. But worst of all I tore every ligament in
My ankle. It took 9 months to heal.
Today medicine is better which is why I said 3 to 6 months.
It cannot have helped that he had to walk off. I have wondered for some time why sports in this country do not have those stretcher carts you see in for example the NFL.
Any way hope you are wright and he is back by December.
He didn’t tear every ligament in his ankle though as far as we know. If he had I doubt they’d be talking about ‘over a month’. It’d be ‘over three months’.

You've forgotten our medical team's track record with injuries

I am by no means saying Kanu is ready (not seen enough of him to form an opinion), but back when we started this campaign, it seemed that the majority on here didn't think Leaburn was ready either and look how he's flourished.

Looking at the starting 11 for tonight, it seems that CBT gets the nod for now

I hope you're right, I have had thousands of pounds of physio and scans etc, but it's not resolved.

Unless you're right the other way and he has no money spent on his.

Sky were clearly planning to big him up tonight as most of their pre-match build up was still about him!

Bar Kanu is there any other options coming out of the academy that might be around the squad too? I saw Dylan Gavin got injured on loan at Tonbridge and Patrick Casey was on the bench at Colchester in the Papa John's.
Kanu, Gavin (played for our U21s recently so on way back), Mack Reilly, Ladapo all in U21s.  Casey in U18.

Just to confirm what others are saying….ligament injuries are a real bastard (I know from experience, done three in all), depending how seriously torn can be anything from a month to six months.
Personally, I doubt we will see Miles on the bench until the new year.

I'll second that from my own personal experience during my playing days.

If you'ire rushed back too soon, it's so easy to roll the injury again.

Rather than tear, that can cause the ligaments to stretch, so the knee or ankle moves too loosely in it's joint and takes forever to heal properly - meaning, you're always anxious when playing that you're going to roll it again. And so you do.

Couldn't we do with young Miles right now?

But healing and recovery has got to take it's course. Or longer term problems can easily arise.

Sometimes ligament issues can take longer to heal than a fracture.

Thankfully we only have 2 league games in the next month so of all the times to be injured its not the worst

I tore my right ankle ligament when I was 10….trod on a piece of coal in the school playground playing football.
It has never been right since and I have torn it a couple of times over the years.
Done ligaments in both knees skiing. 😮‍💨

Thanks CE , didn't want to put a 'like' against that sort of news.

The big difference, and this has been pointed out in numerous places, is their physique. Leaburn has massively bulked up over the last year or so while Kanu is small and slight. Leaburn also has the pace and dribbling ability that made it so he could start out wide and then work his way into the middle as he learned the men's game. I don't think Kanu quite has that.

I do hope we see Kanu on Saturday. I think he's a really interesting player, he's got a great goal scoring record obviously and in the Pizza Trophy he wasn't great but seemed to get into some good positions. But he definitely needs to play with a partner at this point.

Kanu is a poacher.  A sniffer.  Give him a chance and he’ll usually work the keeper.  If we aren’t playing an attacking formation and on top you will nullify some of Kanu’s best attributes

fwiw he too has bulked up a fair bit from the gangly lad he used to be.  I hope we see something of him in the cup games

The late December and early January games will stretch the squad to the limit, 4 games in twelve days, let's hope he's close by then.
  • I'm saying nothing.
    That’s a first.
