Bromley have supposedly accepted a bid for him from a League One club.

At the time of the transfer to Bromley, Cawley said we had first refusal options and sell on clauses included in the deal.

Interesting to see what happens here as we have a buy back I think. Obviously will partly depend on the amount bid

Edit: just looked back and we have first refusal too

Maybe we’ve gone for Adam Reach or Sonny Bradley to cover our left😂

    I’d prefer to have Deji
  • Bromley have confirmed it. He's gone to Lincoln. Undisclosed fee

I've not followed him much since he left but Lincoln have one of the best recruitment teams and are looking highly likely to be in the Championship next season.  I wonder whether we even looked at bringing him back.

    He's never played for Luton.

Deji Elerewe was always rated highly as a boy and the coach who put him in touch with Charlton as a 13 year old and who now coaches Chelsea's young professionals said to me a couple of years ago he was surprised that Deji didn't break into the Cafc team when we were league 1 and instead moved on to Bromley.

I guess players all have a different journey to 1st team men's football and Deji did take time at Bromley to get his career back on track.

I wonder if Charlton considered making a bid for the 22 year old who is more mature on the field and can play CB or Right or left back?

Lincoln is an interesting choice where Michael Skubala is head coach with an impressive record as a coach with England's U18 as well as a coach at Leeds where he was also a caretaker manager.

Lincoln wouldn't have paid a fortune but enough for Bromley to let Deji go.

  • My suspicion is that we may have matched Lincoln's offer but Deji chose to go there. He wouldn't have been promised loads of game time here and we might be in League 1 next season. At Lincoln he'll probably be a regular starter and might be in the Championship next season.

Lincoln met his release clause so no choice for Bromley. Assume we thought it wasn’t worth it with Gough, Mitchell and Josh Laq as youth players and A Mitchell out on loan if we wanted someone from a lower division to come in
  • Might have made sense in the summer if we go down, but right now I can't see that we'd chuck him into the side in a relegation battle in the Championship.

Even if we thought he could be Championship quality at some point, doubt we do right now  so firstly I suspect we didn't bid, and secondly, he'll play more at Lincoln.

Possibly a decent player but not the right timing.

Congratulations to Deji, promoted to the Championship with Lincoln.

Indeed if they and Bromley both win their leagues, he would get two promotion medals in one season  :)

He won't get a promotion medal at Lincoln I don't think?

Don't think he's started a game yet, and doubt 5 sub appearances is enough to qualify for a medal.

McGrandles has played near enough every game I think, though, and Reeco Hackett has played most weeks and is their top scorer.

In order to qualify for a medal in L1 players need to have played or made the bench at least 25% of games (12) so he needs to at least make the bench in 3 of the final 5 games in order to qualify for one

He must be included in the match day squad in 12 matches to qualify for a medal, and he has featured in 9 so far.

Given he was only on Lincolns benc, I wonder if they loan him back to Bromley now they have both been promoted.

Presume he gets a Champion's medal with Bromley but hasn't made enough appearances for Lincoln

Wasn't he included in 14 Lincoln match squads (played in 10, unused sub in 4).  If so then he should get a medal I think.

Nah he does because he at least made the bench in enough games

I was at the Port Vale v Lincoln game yesterday. Deji's certainly put on some muscle and filled out since his time with us.

On the other side of the coin, Onel Hernandez was playing for Port Vale and looked like he'd lost a few stone. He actually looked quite "lively" and won the PV MOTM award.

Shame but he's not broken through like Gomez or Konsa did, though I thought he was more consistent than Ness.
He’s not as good as Ness. He had a couple of decent games early in, but never progressed imho.
Please please apply for a scouting job at Millwall

Fair play to him, I thought he looked incredible for his age when he first appeared in the first team. Had a couple of shaky games granted but we can't keep them all until they are ready and we haven't got many majorly wrong. He has all the physical attributes needed apart from blistering pace but I'm happy for him all the same
