    That's the awful thing about these threads - you remember players like David Armstrong for being very good at what they did and never thinking that they would be leaving us at what is a relatively young age, in his case, to do so.

    RIP, a really good pro as can be seen that he played 431 games for Boro and then nearly 300 for Southampton.

    Sad to read this.

    A mate of mine was at Middlesbrough with him as a youth and waxed lyrical about what a good player Armstrong was. He (my mate) will be sad at this news.

    Only really remember him from his Southampton days , decent player and looked ancient back then I thought he’d be a lot older .
