For the purposes of this exercise, 1 should be 'bog-standard League 2 player', none of these lads are the same species of human as a pub player

A generous assessment of how many they will score rater than a rating. This adds up to 71 which will not get us near with our defensive record and it is being generous. Garner has to up CBT and Rak Sakyi's numbers somehow. They get the chances but are seriously lacking in composure. I thought Rak Sakyi may have had it after a coule of games but it doesn't look like he does.

  • Depends whether you mean now or in the future. People giving Clayden a 1 is ridiculous. He is a young lad who wouldn't have played a league 1 game under normal circumstances yet. Our brighest prospect and the one who easily play at a higher level in a few years in my opininion is Aaron Henry so giving him a 2 is on what basis. To think Muttley normally is one of our more sensible posters!

Yep, same here. And as I'm old enough to be their mum for pretty much all of them, that just feels weird
  • I said:
1 is pub footballer at best, (This could be L2 relegation standard I guess as Leuth suggested)
    5 is lower league 1/upper league 2
10 is could be performing in the upper reaches of the championship or higher

    I'm referring to this season.

I don't care if Clayden could one day play in the Champions league for Man City, at the moment he's not a defender at all and not doing well at LB, So he's a 3 for me right now.

I could however see Rak Sakyi playing in the championship this season, around mid table would seem right for now.

I explained that I gave them how many goals they might score this season not how much I rate them. I agree about Henry. I think we have some decent players relative to the level and how many goals they score is a more important measure. Henry is unlikely to get enough games to score more than one league goal.

  • 5. Bang on average mid-table div 3 fodder.
We had a chance a couple of seasons back when we won the play off final. With that squad we a chance to consolidate but it was broken up and no real replacement quality came in. We will have to wait our turn again but it won't be with this squad.
  • If we are talking where they are now rather than potential I reckon only Sess and Rakisak are the only 2 above a 5.

General Consensus so far seems to be that the defence are the weakest

So what have we learned from this little exercise?

Nothing really, we the fans see that we still have a League 1 squad in league 1 and Dazzler needs to find a lunch time hobby.

We need things to change and fast otherwise this is yet another mid table season. I refuse to write a season off before January.

AND that's all from me on this thread.

  • overall its probably a 6-7/10 for this league. The most frustrating thing is a couple of good players in the right positions and it would easily be an 8.

That;s how I see it. If we could finish a little better and defend a little better, we would be up there. Not a lot, but a little as Paul Daniels might have said.

  • Nathan Harness - dunno haven't seen him in 1st team action
Craig MacGillivray - adequate if occasionally sketchy
Joe Wollacott  - better than CM - 1st XI starter
Ashley Maynard-Brewer -  not seen often enough to judge

Sean Clare - adequate right back or right of 3 CH's, hopeless at left back - 1st XI certainty on the right
    Mandela Egbo - tba
Ryan Inniss -  erratic temperament and fragile physically
Sam Lavelle - slow lightweight and indecisive
    Eoghan O'Connell - park player
    Terell Thomas - tba
Charles Clayden - promising winger if quite small, not yet a full back
Steven Sessegnon  - decent right back and our least worse option so far at left back - 1st XI starter

George Dobson - best player in the squad by a clear head - 1st XI certainty
Jake Forster-Caskey - probably the 2nd best central midfielder in the squad bizarrely cast aside by BG
Scott Fraser - wheezy underachiever nowhere near what we were led to believe
    Aaron Henry -  tba
Conor McGrandles  - not even a park player
Albie Morgan -  an enthusiastic and energetic whole hearted bloke, sadly erratic,
    Alex Gilbey - yesterday's man

Corey Blackett-Taylor - decent attacking outlet who acquitted himself as a wing back when needed -  1st XI starter
Diallang Jaiyesimi -  not making the most of his evident talent
Charlie Kirk -  a couple of decent hours do not an acceptable contribution make
Jack Payne - high energy enthusiast whose little legs can't always get him to what he wants to do, he must be baffled how far down the pecking order he still seems to be -  1st XI starter
Jesurun Rak-Sakyi - a promising talent, hopefully his decision making will improve with experience - 1st XI starter

Chuks Aneke -  a dead weight on the budget, I'd love to see him available, even if it was just for 30 minutes per game - not likely tho is it?
Miles Leaburn - a promising talent on whom far too much expectation and reliance is now put because of the desperate paucity of this squad
Jayden Stockley -  not his fault he's our only experienced striker and unsuited to the blinkered manager's half cocked daydream "tactics", useful in both boxes, functions best with close support a fact so clearly evident that to ignore it is just flat out not doing your job properly Garner!   1st XI starter
