Sadly, I was unable to watch the Zoom after registering to do so but reading this report made me feel as though I was listening to the great man himself. I could picture him relating all those incidents as if I was present.
I'd like to think we all have a bit of Mick in us ( not in THAT way !!) when faced with choices or decisions to make regarding issues involving the club we love....the most memorable being the battle of all battles- for The Valley.
And then, when many supporters made the decision not to attend home games while RD was our owner, whilst others showed their feelings by protesting both at home & in Belgium.
I believe that the faithful will always have a role to play in the future of our club but having someone "on the inside" who has our back, is worth its weight in , well, a season's hospitality in the East Suite ( just £ 11,125 + VAT for half a season according to the recent email sent out!) and in Mick, we have one very special Charlton Legend, quietly, maybe at times, subversively, beavering away behind the scenes.
I've checked with Mick, and he says it's OK to share the story about the policing bill. This is from memory, so may not be totally accurate, and I can't match Mick's inimitable style, but basically during the Roland years, he's in a meeting that goes something like this:
RD: I want us to have the lowest policing costs in the country
Mick: I can tell you now, that's not going to happen. You can't compare our policing needs with places like Falkirk and so on.
RD: I think it's something we should be aiming for, so we'll see how you've done in 6 months.
Mick: Why would I waste your time saying we'll see where we are in 6 months, when I know now it's not going to happen? We're playing Millwall here in three weeks.
I understand that a recording was made of the meeting. Will it be being aired at some point……speaking for myself, even just an audio recording would be good?
DM came into reception at the Valley and the young female receptionist complemented him on his wristwatch to which he replied that it cost more than her annual salary

Should of said "yeah it ain't bad and by looking at it it's time I spent a bit of time with you"
Will there be a recording put out for CAST members who couldn't make it ?
No, it was just for note taking purposes. We would have had to agree it with Mick in advance and we think he might have been quite a bit more guarded if he had known there would be a public permanent record of it.

What a knob head!
Bit harsh on Lancashire lad. He's only posting what he heard.
Known Mick for around 40 years and he is a terrific bloke. His sense of humour and loyalty to CAFC means that those who know him well would run through brick walls for him.

Thank you, Mick. PLEASE keep on keeping on.

Now that is classy.
