Killer in the Snow

Comments

  • Wow was there but don't remember the snow. What I do remember is I had a interview for Northbrook secondary school the next day with the great headmistress Mrs Kirby and  we talked about us going top of the league the night before and yes I got in.

Don't the Valley look great and loved Killer.
  • I remember that game like it was yesterday.

If my memory is correct I recall that the match ball was Bright Orange in colour.
  • If only we had Killer in our current team! What a legend in the true sense of the word.

There's no doubt he'd be a huge improvement to the current team. But, I imagine he'd have to be managed quite carefully, because, at 71, he probably wouldn't be able to last the full 90 minutes every game.

He would still manage more minutes than Chucks!

Looked a bigger crowd than published, but that was pretty normal back then. I don't remember the snow either oddly enough.

I must admit I only remember the game because of the snow.

    My boyhood hero.
47 years ago & I remember it quite well.
  • I imagine the big side must have been quite cold that day!

We have had some wonderful players down the years but Killer will always be my all time favourite.

First time I'd got the train to The Valley, we jumped on at Woolwich Arsenal,  turned out it was fast to London Bridge, turned round, back to Charlton, and got on the terrace just before the first goal. Think they cleared the touchlines, the centre circle and the penalty areas and got on with it. Plus of course, the orange ball. Made no difference, in those days Killer would have scored whatever they used.

Sounds a bit like Chuks (other than the age).

Snap! And the ball was definitely orange.

Killer is 71? Blooming heck, I feel really old suddenly! I hope he hurries up and writes that book of his we were promised years ago.
