Bonne is bad and i really wasn't a fan of his before but thinking of it as long as we bring in 1 other striker who is more prolific/proven then having him there fighting behind for a spot isn't as bad I suppose...0

Agreed. He's a perfectly adequate L1 level player, but for some reason gets slaughtered on here. I don’t think Bonne is anywhere near as bad as people make out, he has scored goals more consistently throughout his career at a similar to higher level than Stockton for instance.He’s just a bit of a mug sadly.8

That’s exactly it really. If he scores goals that push us towards a play off spot, it will be funny how quickly people will forget some rubbish he said in the past - which is why I find it strange that anyone would make sweeping comments about him at his juncture now.cafcfan1990 said:

I would be ok with bringing him back tbh.
14 goals at Championship level, 12 last season for Ipswich.
At this stage, he'd be an upgrade on what we have from both a production (Stockley) and availability (Aneke) standpoint.9 -
We had QPR’s pants around their ankles when they took Bonne off our hands. Couldn’t get into their team back then and then had a loan at Ipswich who didn’t want him either. Might improve us slightly from a very low starting point but if Bonne is the total of our ambition we ain’t going anywhere.6

I'd like us to sign a left-back and left sided centre-back who could hopefully be part of a promotion winning team next season but let's face it, we can't expect to suddenly build a title winning side in this window. We need a striker who can move and score a few goals, which Bonne should be able to do. Exactly the way I see it too. Promotion is all but off the table this season. Doesn't mean we don't try for good players now if they happen to be available but January is notoriously difficult for making big splashes... that's why I think the likes of Nombe from Exeter, Whittaker from Swansea etc. are unlikely.cafcfan1990 said:

Hopefully we will be in a position to bring in some more ambitious targets by the summer (don't laugh).2 -
I'd be ok with Bonne in if it's in addition to another striker coming in too, with Kanu getting a loan out to develop further. For short term, I'd even accept that second striker to be a young player on loan from higher up, provided they have some talent and a bit of pace about them.

To be honest, if we signed Bonne, a player who scored 11 goals for us in the Championship and 12 for Ipswich in L1, for £200,00, sold him for up to £2m and then got him back on a free that's pretty incredible business.People seemed pretty happy with the idea of Nombe who scored 0 in 6 games the Championship and has 11 in 25 in L1 at the moment. Bonne scored 11 L1 goals in 15 games before tailing off last season and 5 in his first 8 Championship games for us (plus 3 after lockdown as he more or less single-handedly tried to score the goals to keep us up). He starts well and then tends to fall away but he's definitely scored goals which our miserable stack of nothings struggle with (Stockley 2 in 23, Chuks 1 in 9) so he'd be an improvement on what we have now. I've never really understood the animosity towards him to be honest, he got so much grief in the Championship but he scored, turned up and if we'd not been the victims of some ridiculous late Barnsley goals and Blackburn own goals we would have had him to thank more than most of the others in that team.I would like us to sign two strikers though, sadly moving Stockley out somewhere else to rebuild himself. Leaburn, Bonne and another plus the ghost of Chuks would be pretty handy.15

Young, just signed a new contract (which for a PL kid usually means a loan around the corner), would be his first loan so likely would come cheap, Irish so Gavin, Casey and Molyneux could keep him in good company... Aaron Donnelly.

Never really rated him & thought we did really well getting £2m (?!) from QPR. He is probably a League 1/2 striker and seeing as we are bottom half League 1 he fits the bill. However, I wouldn't be happy if that was our only striker signing......and I'm sure it wont be.0 -
What is our obsession with signing ex players. Don't want someone who is offside every 2 mins. Don't see how he improves our attacking line8

If you decide to shop in Poundland you are limited to what you can get.
Bonne, although not ideal, is definitely an improvement on both Chuks and Stockley
Let us be honest anyone who can walk unaided is an improvement on Chuks, and Stockley with 1 goal from open play is hardly setting the world alight.
