It's definitely an exciting choice. I've been increasingly feeling like Dawson would have been much more sensible, but he doesn't put as many revs on the ball. Can smash it about mind
Buzzing that Moeen is back. Perfect for the way we play and he will have so much more freedom under this regime
Agreed that he will be more comfortable in this environment. Trouble is that the Aussies aren't going to fear him as there are no secrets to his game and his record of 20 wickets at 64.65 with the ball and 25.05 with the bat is evidence enough of that. He's never really been able to stem the flow of runs either as his overall ER is 3.61. I would have been tempted to have thrown Rehan Ahmed in as he will go for a few but he is a wicket taking bowler though the assumption in saying that is that Stokes can bowl. Could it be that we are hoping that Stokes will be able to bowl more overs as the series progresses hence Moeen being called in for the first two Tests?
Given the conditions, India have bowled no better than average. Fortunately for us, they are lulling the Aussie batsmen into a false sense of security.
India get bigged up but the fact is Umesh & Thakur wouldn't get anywhere near either of the English or Aussie attacks. They're missing Bumrah big time
Indeed though they are still, as an attack, infinitely better than the one we faced against Ireland. And the Indian batsmen will test the Aussie bowlers more than our opposition last week.
Oh no, averaging less than 33 as second spinner in England! How terrible
Two wickets a match. Or one per innings average. It's not as if they've gone into the game without a world class spinner is it? And they won't even be bowling last. Let's see how many wickets the spinners in this game pick up as opposed to the seamers shall we?
