Charlton Athletic vs Lincoln CitySaturday 7th January 2023 - 3pm Kick-OffReferee: James OldhamIntroductionAfter a long run of eight games without a win, the Addicks finally managed to secure all three points with a routine victory at the second stadium they call home - Whilst the 1-3 win on the South Coast wasn't perfect on New Years Day, its given both the Addicks and Dean Holden a platform to try and build upon whilst we wait for fresh reinforcements during this months Transfer Window - Bigger games lie in wait in the coming week, yet securing League One status remains the priority... Continuing this coming Saturday.
The OppositionName: Lincoln City (15th) | Manager: Mark KennedyGround: Sincil BankPrevious League Result: Lincoln City 1-1 Ipswich TownVisiting the Valley this weekend are one of two draw specialists of League One this season - Both Fleetwood Town, and our visitors this Saturday: Lincoln City have drawn the most games this season, a total of eleven, which is one more than both Portsmouth and Charlton - Naturally you'd then suspect another cagey game, with few goals, a bit like what we got to witness when we visited Sincil Bank earlier in the season, drawing 0-0 in the process.
As stressed at times this season, its goals conceded that has been our greatest issue this season, rather than finding the back of the net - Whilst for Lincoln you could argue that it has been the latter that is their problem, rather than keeping the ball out of their net, with only four teams (outside of the top six) with better defensive records than the Imps thus far this season, whilst on the other hand, only five of the bottom seven have worse returns in front of goal
Lincoln have lost as many games that we've won... With just two defeats since October, I dont think we can expect another classic come 3pm tomorrow.
Charlton Team NewsLets talk injuries first because they're always fun to discuss - On a positive number it appears as though Conor McGrandles is slowly regaining fitness after his latest injury, the summer signing, having played 78-games our opponents, played for our U21s yesterday, and whilst its highly unlikely he'll be involved tomorrow, its good to have additional numbers to slowly call upon.
Elsewhere and Chuks Aneke suffered a setback prior to the clash with Portsmouth on Sunday, so will surely miss out - With both McGrandles and Aneke still out, you'd expect opportunities to be given to youth with Aaron Henry and Daniel Kanu both earning a number of minutes these last few games - As for the match day squad as a whole... Why change the winning formula? - Especially when its taken so long to find in recent months

Same squad for me.

as an aside, we still have far too many potential first team possibles out injured, nothing changes there does it ?
CAFC 2 v Lincoln City 1
Any unreported injuries, "resting" players, positional changes, or phoning it in and we won't.
So impressed how they have revolutionised the club. An exciting.new era.
Unconfirmed rumours even the chip portions may increase.
1.1
Think we will know more about Holden as a manager after this game for sure.
Play the U18's as the first team will be at 90% pace fearing a tackle will rob them of playing at the "Theatre of Dreams".
With that in mind I'm going for a 3-1 defeat.
