Tips for sleeping on a "Red Eye"

Eastbound relax with neck pillow and good eyeshades and earphones. Watch a movie and eat dinner but don't overdo the booze or you'll need to pee, then sleep. Accept that you will wake and check time every now and then so leave the map on.

Westbound will be much shorter so just do your best and get shuteye but don't expect too much and make it up when home.

    Good luck!

If you’re flying first class, Emirates won’t expect you to do four and a half hours of labour. You’ll have plenty of people fussing you all the way to Auckland. Bon voyage!

As someone who lives in Dubai and knows how expensive Emirates prices currently are post-pandemic, you must be spending a small fortune to do that trip first class. But it's a flight you will probably never forget.

We got very lucky cruise we are doing came with business class and we upgraded to first class on the day emirates announced they were resuming the Auckland route cost was only £1000 each, obviously snapped there hand off as our travel said one in a life time offer.

If you can't sleep un aided in first class, it's not worth the money !! I recently flew business and slept 6 hours of a 6 hours 45 flight lol. They had to wake me up for landing and I missed every single bite of food 😅

Normally, the best thing to do is to set your watch to the timezone of your destination and aim to settle down to sleep as comfortably as you can, as soon as you have eaten.

But you're going First Class on Emirates.  So, here's what you should do:

    1. Before your flight, download the ice app (Apple or Android) - you can use it to select your personal preference of 5,000 channels and 1,500 movies to watch on your (ridiculously large) personal tv screen. You will have Bowers & Wilkins E1 nise cancelling headphones - they're very good!
    2. Make use of the a la carte menu and order the food you want - but remember they will serve "snacks" throughout the flight when you're peckish.
    3. Take a walk to the Onboard Lounge and order drinks or cocktails. (Even if you don't drink or don't like cocktails - being able to walk up to a bar on a flight is a "don't miss").
    4. Use the shower - or "shower spa" as they call it.  It's nice to arrive "refreshed", but it's also good to get in the shower before planning to sleep.  (And showering 35,000 feet above sea level is pretty cool).

There's more stuff you can read if you follow the link on this tweet -  - including a photo of the bar.

Also, before you set foot on board, ask yourself this question: "Emirates First Class was voted the best in the world in 2020 - so how good is the "better" version going to be?"

Have a great flight!  (And post on here from onboard).

In all seriousness though, emirates bizz class is the nuts, first class will be special. you can totally ignore all of the tips above, you won’t need them

    Just another little tip.
You will get a toothbrush and toothpaste in your vanity kit. You won’t believe how different you feel after freshening up (or showering in first class) and brushing your teeth shortly before landing!
