SKY Stream.

  • Silly question time  - what is the difference to being able to "record" to being able to "add to playlist" ?

You cannot record live programming……but can add items to a playlist to watch later from a library of ‘on demand’ content.

My question would be what percentage of live programming is also available to watch on demand?
  • I am considering Sky Stream - can anyone give a more current appraisal of the quality ? Thanks.
I feel it’s a better picture and generally not too different from sky q. Change the sound setting as well when you get it as the default setting can make the picture look out of sync.
Works like the puck you get with Sky Glass to see content on a separate smart tv.

Playlist is not as intuitive as the old fashioned save and record options. Programmes aren't always immediately available after they finish, there's a delay before uploaded to Playlist. If you watch live programme from start and pause you may find it's disappeared when you try and resume, even if it's scheduled to be saved to Playlist.

    Called progress I guess.
  • Thanks everyone

I haven't found many things yet that I miss live and cannot find on catch-up. One of them is IndyCar racing as the catch up is only ever highlights, and I suspect for lengthier sports programmes that might be similar (like The Open, Wimbledon and Test cricket probably only has highlights instead of the full rerun) but all "normal" programming I've been able to find

It's absolutely fine had it for a year now. Works pretty much like sky plus (it has catch up TV etc. UHD, series link) the only downside is you can't "record" something HOWEVER if you add it to your playlist, it will have it ready for you to watch at any time. It's also great for live sports as there's an option to watch live if halfway through, or start from the beginning (so you can watch the F1 an hour or so behind if need be and pretend it's live)

I have it in the living room with 2 extra pucks in the bedroom and spare room. Only thing to know is the main device can do UHD but the pucks only have HD capability

The pucks do 4k. I know the older Sky Q mini boxes don't and they are barely HD, 720.
I dont pay for the netflix as its included in the Sky package but annoyingly I just get HD.
  • Fair enough, I looked into the settings again and they had defaulted to 1080 but I've managed to change it to 2160 now
