POST-MATCH THREAD Peterborough vs Charlton Athletic. Tuesday 28th Feb 19.45

The Addicks travelled to East Anglia in search of a chance to redeem themselves against a Peterborough side that is ten points above them in the table. It was a game of two halves, literally both crap. We had the best of the first half, where Peterborough looked a shadow of the team their league position suggests, but our performance was certainly not dominant. Peterborough actually had the best chance of the half and would have gone into halftime one goal to the good if not for Ashely Maynard-Brewer’s quick reactions to tip the ball around the post. We had the better part of possession, but our leading line proved too blunt to pierce the Peterborough goal (or even test it in any meaningful way).

The second half wasn’t any better. The defining moment occurred when Rak-Sayki was brought down and the Peterborough defender kicked out at him. Young Jes threw a jab in reaction and it seemed we were likely to go down to ten men. Ultimately, it was the Peterborough man that was issued his marching orders, with Rak-Sakyi lucky to see yellow. The state of play deteriorated from there. A scrappy game became more scrappy.

No need to labour the point. Holden made positive substitutions, but it wasn’t enough simply because we’re not good enough.

Peterborough 0 Charlton 0

Over to you.

  • Great point on the road - BOOM
  • Might be the worst game of football this season. Get some points and get rid of some shocking players in the summer.
  • It’s what is to be expected, W10, D11, L12, F45, A46.

    Bang Average

Just woke up dreading a heavy loss, so a point against a form team, ending the losing run, is much more than I expected.

A44, thank you very much! +1 GD, not -1. :-)

But who really expected anything less from Ipswich's third choice left back?
  • expected a heavy defeat so that’s a positive for me
  • Holden looks a very frustrated man who is rapidly realising his role is a poison chalice .

Deano can certainly talk a good game in the after match interview, how we didn't beat that lot with 11 or 10, they were there for the taking, and we let off another team, and seem pleased with another "clean sheet"..ffs, couldn't give a shite about the clean sheet, they were never gonna score, but sad as it is neither were we on the night...
Anyway, Plymouth will be a piece of piss  i'm sure..anyway, Deano sounded like it will be, and on that I say good night...

Not many teams will get anything from a 10 mam Peterborough.  Judge us when we play the Fleetwoods, Cheltenhams and Bristol Rovers of this world...
We should be beating (EDIT: defeating, just in case anyone gets the wrong idea) those mothers.
  • Looks bit different there!
  • Heavy touch had a great game.

Pretty dire from both teams, we didn't look threatening at all with some of the worst shooting seen.

Fraser and Bonne the worst performers, Payne close behind but he at least improved in the second half if only to maintain our "busy but no goal threat" policy.

A point away is great but after playing so long against 10 men, to not look like scoring or even look comfortable isn't a great sign of the amount of work needed in the summer.

Again, we're just an inconsistent team full of inconsistent players who largely, aren't good enough.
  • At work, just got back in off plant and thought have a quick peek at the score. Saw 0-0 and thought not bad, then came on here and read the comments.

We just don't look like scoring...
