One of the only remaining reasons to be proud to be British is our innovation and exportation of sports. I see that there are in fact two Walking Football teams in my town (pop: 55000) here in France. How comes that The French or any other European nation didn't have this idea?
I googled Walking Football and there was a list of clubs (66 in total) but there does not appear to be any in Kent from what I can see.
I'm fairly certain that there is a Walking Football Club in Maidstone and I would be surprised if there weren't many more across Kent given how much the sport has grown over the past few years. You can certainly find one of 71 clubs listed on the WFA website one of which is Tonbridge Trotters (that's Trotters not Totters).

Bexley, Tonbridge, West Malling, Maidstone in my area. Contact me for WM.
I've known John since the 1960's, absolutely top bloke and so many fond memories of our Mod days back then.
John also had the best Lambretta in Sidcup!
Congratulations mate.
Outed....!!
but @mistrollingin62 knows that the real top Sidcup mod was the one and only Steve Tarrant who sadly left us before even our first post-1960s spell in the then Division One. Gone also some years ago Charlton lifer Jock Henderson. We all frequented the Austral in Sidcup, the Iron Curtain in St Mary Cray and the Black Prince in Bexley, Happy Times.

Thanks to all for all the congrats and here's hoping one or two will get into Walking Football as a result of knowing it's out there with so many clubs now up and running.
So I think we should close this thread now but I'll come back later in the year if I notch up any more International caps COYR CJ
Get to play for England over 75s Walking Football tomorrow at the England training ground at St Georges Park. We are playing the over 80s (yes the over 80s!) in an exhibition match which kicks off the Walking Football World Cup for over 50s an over 60s teams from all over the World - to be held in Derby.
Included in our squad is Tom Charlton (brother of Bobby and Jackie) who never played professionally due to injury I believe but now plays for Rotherham Millers and with a name like that has become an ambassador for Walking Football, which, as the competition suggests, is now popular Worldwide.
Good luck John! I play walking soccer in Stratford Ontario with the Stratford Strollers. I am the only Charlton fan but we have a lot of expats, mostly crocked over 60s who can’t run anyway! Our group includes a guy whose dad still plays back in Kent at 95.
Proud to have been awarded the newly sponsored England Walking Football (Over 75) International goalkeeping shirt the other week after turning out for SW England in a regional competition. Have two England caps so far having played Wales home and away with the 0-1 defeat in Wales reversed by our 4-0 home win in Bristol last July. The first outing for the shirt will be in April in Guernsey with our star midfielder Geoff Martell playing for England against his Channel Island mates. ***************************
Supported Charlton since 1962 attending countless home and games away over 50 years despite moving to the West Country in 1971 with my 'home' games being at Exeter City, so recent 2-1 win very welcome given that my local walking football club Exeter Strollers originated from within the fan-based Community Club, which naturally abounds with their fans! Now to Plymouth on Saturday and following the FGR and Exeter wins another West Country victory would go down very well!
I can see this without any sarcasm whatsoever, you are looking bloody good for your age. Fair play.
Well done John. I didn't know that there was an international team for walking football. I know that it has taken off in Brittany but not elsewhere really. Do you know if France has an international team yet?
Yes, it's really taking off and there are well-established England Walking Football teams at Over 50s, Over 60s and Over 70s which have competed here and on the Continent. The England Over 75s have only been in existence for about 18 months but we have several players around the 80 mark and its only a matter of time (literally I guess) before there is an Over 80s England Walking Football Team. Rex Buttle of Dorchester was featured in a National newspaper having made his England debut at age 80.
Mate, just brilliant. Not only the England set up that you represent and play for, but you yourself for your own achievement.
Just back home to Exeter from the opening day of the Walking Football World Cup for over 50s and over 60s. Played an Exhibition game for England over 75s v England over 80s Ended 2-2 with Tommy Charlton (brother of Bobby) and John Farringdon - with the goals for the over 75s and two from Pete Moss for the over 80s. Draw probably a fair result. In our squad also was Dave Pooley, uncle of England Lioness Chloe Kelly.
St Georges Park heaving with teams from all over the World Weggie - you would not believe it - state-of-the-art facilities across a huge estate It looked like one of those futuristic lunar colonies - all domes and space-age architecture - but planted out in the English countryside.

My history is similar to yours. I was born 1946, dad took me first game in early 1962.

Do you know a Charlton fan called Dave from Bexley who plays walking football, says he’s played or plays for England
My neighbour, don’t know his surname
Well done!
