I am very pleased for Ryan that he seems to have got over his injuries, and massive credit to whoever in the medical department figured out that it was down to a muscle imbalance. I bet Ryan wishes he met them 5 years ago.
I wouldn't be surprised to see players like Thomas, Kane or Edun (who we nearly signed before IIRC) being targeted - players who can cover multiple positions.
There needs to be some specialists in the squad of course but if the budget is an issue then going for a CB who can also play FB or a midfielder who can also play up front etc etc seems a likely strategy to (try and) finesse more depth.

Hadn't heard that explanation before - what's the full story?

That’s a terrible idea unless we’re swapping Inniss for a versatile player who can play CB. We need a quality one to replace Thomas, then the other 3 is sufficient.

Agreed. I'm absolutely not advocating in favour of it, merely guessing what I think the strategy will be. I don't think it's going to work but I'm not the one making the decisions.

You might well want 5 center backs. Especially if your going to play 3 even occasionally. It would make sense for at least one to be able to play full back. You might well want 1 of your 4 fullbacks able to play both sides.
These are the type of details in our recruitment that have been missing in the past few years.

I honestly thought the situation was as hopeless as Aneke, so pleasantly surprised by his amount of minutes this season.
“We’ve got to be respectful as there is still a game to play but once we get that out of the way we’ll ramp up the conversations and start to meet players – whether we get them into the training ground to show them our facilities, or take them to The Valley, or we meet them off-site to keep them away from anyone who might be having a look at who we're trying to sign!"
ok boys, go park our stakeout van in front of Nando’s Bexleyheath
Deji to come back to the squad or another season out on loan?
We’ll have 4 or 5 senior centre backs, but I don’t see Ness, Mitchell and Elerewe taking up 3 of those spots. Only way it happens is if we have an owner really pushing the academy and cutting costs.
As soon as there’s an injury/suspension or two you could be playing two young CBs together. As experienced as Inniss is he has looked better alongside Hector rather than being the more senior CB.

I think Inniss is very inexperienced for his age. He had played less league games than Albie Morgan before this season.

Agree, even more reason to avoiding building the squad in that way.
I think a striker is definitely needed regardless of what happens with Leaburn , I'd be looking at loaning out Kanu to League 2 to get some experience and obviously it's hard to know what the Aneke situation will be.

The worst place for any youngster is that 3rd or 4th choice hole, that Henry has fallen into and Morgan had occupied for a long time.
You end up not playing, for anyone, for months. Bar the odd cameo here and there.

When the reality becomes clear come August, that the team we're seeing today is all we can afford
7 goals in his last four matches…
Should have been more enough to get us into the top 6, but we didn’t because we couldn’t keep a clean sheet and we conceded a shed load of goals.
Not just Rak-Sakyi and potentially Leaburn now
Least it won’t be hard to replace Bonne/Stockley’s goals .
Either way I just don’t want to spend another transfer window reading loads of ‘where are the goals coming from’ sort of comments.
