Another Ipswich player I wouldn't mind is George Edmundson. They are willing to let him go by the sounds of things.
We have said we need a centre back and he's a very decent one at this level, tall, strong, good in the air and can pass fairly decent.
I'd be all over that if I was the recruitment team
Edmundson was the wanker who, when they went 4-2 up last season, instead of celebrating with his teammates, immediately turned round to the Covered End (with Christian Walton) and started gesturing and giving it some.
For that reason alone I don't like him, but you can't deny, he's a good footballer.
Tbf that would just make me want to sign him more, I love a wind up/sh*t house
This striker brinksmanship might backfire on us as well. We look like we've got Tedic pretty much sewn up, but we're also giving the vibe we don't particularly want him. We could bring him in but also Etete looked available so we had a little look there and delayed. And now we think Ladapo might be available if Ipswich sign another striker so we'll probably hold off on Tedic again, meaning that if we miss out on Ladapo late on we'll either also not get Tedic or he'll come but he'll know he was 400th on our list and probably not feel super positive about being here. We saw Liverpool do this with their holding midfielder search; messed around with bidding for Lavia, very publicly dumped him and bid for Caicedo who didn't want to join them and then lost out on Lavia too because he'd seen that he obviously wasn't all that coveted by them. Players see the rumour mill working too.
This is Charlton prepare to be underwhelmed on transfer deadline day. CM will already have the excuses prepared.
Selling CBT when our record of wingers in for fees in recent years has been utterly abysmal would certainly be one way of upsetting the fanbase even more.
Yeah bring it on, let’s just sell the whole first team squad while we’re at it and play academy youngsters, that will work….
I thought that was the plan, sell anything of value pick up a few out of contracts & freebies & play the youngsters who will get battered every week. Who next Dobbo & Leaburn just to make it a really great window (for the SMT).
I don’t like this talk about CBT potentially going.
CBT has it in him to be a great player at times, and then two minutes later the most annoying. His pace terrorises defences, but his shooting is, well.... really intermitent. When you are 2-1 down with ten minutes to go and he blasts the ball into row z with the box full of attackers, you feel like taking 50p to offload him. But creativity is rare, and the music from recent seasons is that when we sell a decent (ish) player, the money vanishes to pay bills, and we get a freebie from Swindon or Gillingham. So if there is a plan, a decent replacement or two, and a good price, I'd vaguely say okay. But how can there be a plan with no manager? Where are we spending money to replace him? Scott isn't answering my calls today, but this is a no from me unless we do the Ipswich route, and get the replacements in first.
Genuinely time to have an investigation into our training methods. We're clearly doing something very wrong
Couldn't agree more. There is something drastically wrong.
Without offence meant or digging out the person in the position as I don’t know who it is - I sincerely think a look into the gym based S&C methods and more appropriately the injury prevention training (and injury rehab as reoccurring injuries seem our down fall).
as I say I can only comment out of pure speculation as they already might be going through a good training regime.
@DubaiCAFC out of interest, can I ask how your source gives you info?
Did he say to you "there's a striker that trained with us today".
Or did he say "[striker's name] trained with us today"
Assumedly if the source said version 1, you would have asked who.
I'm perfectly willing to believe this info is true as we will surely be signing a striker today. I'm just interested how the info is spread - is it in a precise way, deliberately ambiguous way..? I can't understand how there has been so many red herrings recently with ITK tip offs. For example, Nombe, a striker signing the past 2 weekends, how a manager had already been chosen.
Not an attack on you or Reams, genuinely curious.
The info I got yesterday was a mistaken identity, if you was to take head shots of Watson and Etete they look similar, it wasn't until they had done the height test they had got it mixed up.
Watson did the photos and signed yesterday, not sure why it was only announced today!

PR, fans like the deadline day signings in general so more engagement and at the end of the day Scott can do an interview saying “We’ve had a great day, we’ve signed X amount of players” etc
Not had confirmation on this, but sounding like #cafc could be set to sign Udinese centre-back James Abankwah on loan. Republic of Ireland U21 international.

Based purely off his appearances at senior level, this seems a very odd signing.
"Abankwah made his debut for the club on 2 April 2023, replacing from the bench in a defeat away to Bologna. He then made his first Serie A start on 4 June, in a 0–1 league loss against Juventus, with manager Andrea Sottil, stating after the match that Abankwah was one of the players that are "the future of Udinese".
Not sure how you can be classed as the 'future' of a Serie A club in June and then loaned to league one in September, but that's football for you.

It is not too late to make this a good season, just get some last minute quality panic buying/loaning done.
What was it, exciting times ahead ?

Probably meant Tolu moving to Portman Road.
