  • Our thanks to the Trust for starting this, we really need to replace the equipment as it's well beyond its 'use by' date. The original units were provided by fans over twenty years ago and they have been in use ever since.
If you can spare a couple of quid, the more that support us the more units we can replace.
    Thanks to you in advance.
  • This would be such an easy win for Sandgaard.
  • Already done.
    Great cause 👍🏼♥️
  • Happy to help you get some up to date equipment.

Or indeed any of the so called bidders keen to invest in our club.
  • Great cause.....Any chance of giving some of it to the referees we get down there?
  • So THATS why the ref has an earpiece!

This could be provided from the comms budget, as part of the match commentary, come on Charlton, such an important part of the match day experience for the partially sighted...🤷‍♂️

The original units were bought approx thirty years ago and then replaced/ added to by the club via a £10,000 grant from itv when I worked for the club during the 1999/2000 season. So are at least 23 years old now.

would it be cheaper if the club provided free charlton tv audio to the partially sighted/blind supporters.

The only issue I can see being a potential problem would be mobile signal.

is the service still provided by us at away games as well ? This was something we introduced in 1999/2000.

To answer @SE9toDA2 no, it wouldn’t.

You’ll know the receivers use a transmitter, to cover the entire stadium. Someone with sight issues may struggle to log into a mobile phone, the units are far simpler and easier to use.

Occasionally when the four of us aren’t available the matchday comms from Terry and Greg are used.

Quick thanks to everyone who has chipped in so far, it’s much appreciated.

  • £6000 required. The club should absolutely be funding this as part of an inclusivity programme. No different to ensuring wheelchair access for example.

Would be interested to understand why they are not and if this contravenes the Equalities Act.
  • Agreed with comments above.

Regardless, well done all for keeping this going over the years. I've chipped in.
