Don’t get me started on our away kit 😤. Why the f**k were we playing in black yesterday and not red especially as Oxford had black or navy? shorts 🤷♂️.
After the departure of men’s team manager yesterday, Charlie Methven confirmed to Rich Cawley of South London press that Karen Hills & Tracey Leaburn have been appointed to oversee the transition of Charlton to a fully integrated men’s and women’s team. Methven commented’ The American investors were immediately sold on the idea of creating the first mixed gender team in the league. It ticks all the boxes, the girls are as cheap as chips, the Americans still view soccer as mostly for women anyway, Netflix were immediately sold on the idea for a documentary and once they’d been out to a few of the local pubs it was clear to them that there was plenty of aggressive female talent around ‘
Charlie commented further ‘ the club has suffered from decades of under investment in the team and our mandate has been to continue that trend so that there is virtually zero professional and experienced male talent in the squad creating a clear pathway for the women to play and fill those gaps.
We have created spaces in the 1st team for a goalkeeper, two full backs, two centre halves, two midfielders, two wing backs , two wingers and two strikers. Tracey & Karen will be using those spaces to get our most talented women into the team. Of course, Andy Scott will still be working hard to recruit men before the window closes and he will stick to our mantra of ‘ Only the cheap, the injured , the sick and the wholly inexperienced will do’.
Charlie said’‘ I cant wait to be the first League One Chairman to plant a big smackeroony square on the lips of the first woman who scores for the club. I’ve already nicknamed the new concept …………….Charlie’s Angels. “
