I can’t see a loan happening as we need him as cover, especially if Ramsay and Burke are both out at the same time. I suppose a back three might be Alex, Jones and Gillesphey in some circumstances. Zach will make it as a pro footballer. His reputation in Scotland alone ensures that. The majority of us are able to be supportive even if we have home grown bias.
One thing Zach clearly lacks for a CB is strength probably needs more first team football to toughen himself up a bit. If an opportunity comes up to loan him out and we can bring in another experienced championship cb on loan we should take it
I've been surprised by how slow and weak he is for a central defender. I was going to say he'll go the way of Charlie Barker but hes forging a decent career for himself (slowly).
I don't see how he's a CB. Unless he sizes up considerably in the next few years, he doesn't have the size or frame to compete with the strikers you find at L2 level and above.
Ever time I’ve seen him in the past I’ved likes what I have seen . Not tonight . I suppose everyone is entitled to having a stinker . Im not writing him off .

Unfortunately I'm the opposite, whenever I've watched him I've thought he's ok, but not a cut above wherever he's been playing, and haven't quite got the hype around him. I think tonight showed off the flaws in his game pretty harshly, and nothing I've seen of him tells me he's going to go on and become a star at the heart of our defence
Total overreaction from certain people in my view. Yes he was very poor last night. However I've liked what I've seen in the past and believe he will come good.
20 for a centre back is a baby. He did everything last night that a young centre back does that helps them learn but causes them not to be trusted by managers. Getting wrong side, not communicating with his teammates, getting drawn to the ball and letting his man run. It's no accident that when Zach did play last season for us before he got injured it was at right back. The same for Joe Gomez and Ezri Konsa at first, a lot of future centre backs get put at fullback or in midfield where their mistakes are punished less. It might even have been worth putting Gillesphey in the middle and the youngsters either side of him rather than ask Zack to do the difficult job of marshalling the middle when he had two inexperienced teenagers outside him on the right, which is where the first two goals came from. I don't think you can draw a lot of conclusions from his performance last night beyond him doing pretty much what every young centre back does regularly at first team level. He looked good against Southend at RB, I wouldn't write him off just yet. Loan him out and let him make his mistakes and learn in a different environment.

Let's analyse his performances according to what we see. Also, there's little value in citing a RB performance against a National League side in a friendly.
His followers have constantly said that we will be wowed when he gets to play his preferred position, CB. He's played RB, RCB and CB and looked equally poor in each (sadly).
We loaned out the wrong Mitchell. If Burke is still out, we are really thin if any of our CBs get injured
Alex probably gets paid more, so a better option for balancing the books. More likely AM was the one sought by Argyle (& others) for the reasons we can see when Zach plays 😞

I wouldn’t write him off yet, but a season of regular football in L1 or the SPL again could do him good.
Nowhere near ready for championship football.
