The goalkeeper from the great Dutch side of the 1970s has passed away aged 82. Played in two world cup finals despite only winning 24 caps in total. RIP Jan.
Jan Jongbloed retired in 1986, having suffered a heart attack during a game. His son, Eric, was also a goalkeeper.
On 23 September 1984, 43 year old Jan was playing in goal for Go Ahead Eagles against Sparta. At the same time 21 year old Eric was playing for his father's former team DWS against VV Rood-Wit, watched by both his sister and girlfriend. The weather worsened during Eric's game, from light rain to a torrential downpour, thunder and, worse still, lightning. Eric was struck by lightning during the game and died in hospital.

Never knew that
RIP to both
Very fond of punching rather than catching iirc.
Maybe a forerunner of modern keepers
