When do players get paid.....end of the month or a set day ?  Surely the staff & players will get paid this month.
I read that they have passed player sales as the last 2/3 allowed them to pay wages of those who were previously unpaid... However they still owe the taxman and other clubs I think so you would think any other players with any value will likely be sold in the coming month if no takeover happens.

I would imagine Chris Powell would be a huge loss.  In a difficult environment, having such a positive coach must have bought at least an air of normality.
Even the most positive of guys must get worn down after a while and while a different period, Chris has had to put up with Duchatalet and now this shower.

It's a shame he could not have continued his gig with England where I am sure he was an outstanding mentor to the young players in the squad.

If Rohl was to get another job in the UK I imagine Powell would go with him as they seem to have built up a good relationship and work well.
Word is that Rohl is interested in going back to Germany, that may not be so attractive to Powell should he be invited.
  • That was fairly obvious, no advisor was ever going to be taking a risk with fan safety at Hillsborough of all places.
Brings their capacity down by 9,000. Wonder if they’ll limit away fans to the lower tier of the West Stand only.
  • My understanding is that Sheffield Wed were quoted £15 million to do the work to replace the support structure of the North Stand. £3 million for remedial works to temporarily solve the problem. That’s a lot of wedge. Obviously Chansiri won’t be paying it and it’s another unavoidable expense to add to the purchase price of the club. Unless there is a purchase very close to being agreed it’s hard to see how they can continue. The monies owed to players was paid using transfer revenue and now that’s gone or nearly gone what then. Payday in the next few days will be interesting. Tax man and other clubs still owed money that presumably any buyer would need to fund in addition to the North Stand works. Hard to see anybody stupid enough. When will the EFL say something?

The issue is that Chansiri has a ridiculous asking price. Last i read was that he wanted close to 100m, which he doesn't have a hope in hell of getting. A club without a manager, without a decent team, who will likely be in league one next season, with a condemned stand meaning one side of the ground is closed. He'd be lucky to even get half that.

Any prospective buyer at this point surely waits for them to go into administration?

They also owe millions to HMRC and to other clubs. He needs to sell for a £1:00

Your past sentence says it all.  When will the EFL act or do they just let it ride out ?  Do they let Sheff Wed start the season (no reason not to re playing staff) but surely they should act with regard to the non payment of staff. I'm sure office & matchday staff are getting paid otherwise none will turn up on matchdays.

It seems at least the City council are aware of their responsibilities !

When they can't not. They announced transfer embargos, and will announce any other decision that needs to be made when they have to make it.

Two weeks to kick off. I’d say they need to make a statement now.

The fact they haven't tells me to expect they'll kick off in the Championship, albeit with a thin squad, limited ground capacity, and owing money all over place with a Chairman keen to sell, so in a bad place.  Do they really need to say that? Who's saying otherwise?

With everything going on, I’m surprised the EFL haven’t sought assurances that the Club can complete the season.  It’s not about being able to make the first game, it’s that they can make the last one.

They’ll never get that assurance from Chansiri though. An absolute mess!

I take that as....." how much can we bung you to keep it open".
  • I honestly don’t see how they can start the season in the current circumstances. How on earth can they provide evidence that they have funds to complete the season whilst they owe HMRC etc

He allegedly owes a lot of money to people he's borrowed from, and some at fairly high interest rates, which is why his asking price is so high.

Do any rules require them to do so?

I’m pretty sure they do yes. Pretty unfair if the play number of games and then can’t complete

That’s not what I mean but you know that. The EFL have a responsibility to ensure that a club has the wherewithal to complete its fixtures. At this point would you say that requirement is likely to be met ?

Not sure, ask Bury Town Football Club, they may be able to help.

Chansiri soon to get one of these

    Obviously I can’t, but I’m genuinely curious.

I’m pretty sure that all EFL clubs have to submit financial proof that they have funds for the season mate
  • He has the money, just doesn't want to spend it!
