Apparently only around 3,500 home fans at their game last night, vastly outnumbered by 6k Grimsby.

Seen a few of their fans arguing over whether to protest at their home league game v Sheff utd. One side arguing that as a live tv game it's a great chance to boycott and gain wider public attention, others are arguing they can't boycott a derby game and if home fans don't go, Chansiri will probably just sell thousands of tickets to United fans.
They're a bit stuck because they've lost their best boycott method of the League Cup. They'll probably settle on all wearing black and gold and then not do anything else. Reading seemed much better at kicking up a fuss, not that it should be required
True but a lot of their fanbase seem pretty happy at them going out, as a big away PL tie in the next round would've potentially given Chansiri upwards of an extra million in revenue.

You possibly go on Owlstalk like I do.
The supporters accept that season ticket holders go to the games after having shelled out the dough(mostly around Christmas when the early bird scheme starts), they have been boycotting all other spending avenues, refreshments etc.
The boycotters for the cup games were very p****** off with the ones that went to Leeds but have been doubly upset for going to the game last night.
I imagine that they will promote a boycott of the Sheffield derby, that would be easy as will be a lunchtime kick-off and normally on the tele.  However, I believe they have 17k season ticket holders and I'll be amazed if 7k say no to going.
They're resigned to relegation and are not getting on the back of Pedersen.

Hope they get a points deduction and go down. They should have gone down instead of us in 2020 as they had financial irregularities but from memory they got a points deduction the next season?

Live game on the TV is ideal platform for them to be in the ground and to protest/disrupt the game

I suspect they won't need a points deduction this season to acheive that outcome. They have held up better than I expected but the season will catch up with them and they are second from bottom with one point despite showing some fight.

Laughable to write them off after five games tho. Not looking good at the moment, but their circumstances might change for the better. They could hardly get much worse.

Back under an embargo for for ‘Future Financial Information’ and ‘Secure Funding’. Whatever that means in practice

    Future Financial Information embargo

"as a result of its review of all the documents and information submitted by the Club pursuant to Regulations 16.2 to 16.20, and having taken into account any failure of the Club to supply any such documents or information, in its reasonable opinion it determines that the Club will not over the course of the following Season be able to:

“(a) pay its liabilities to the creditors listed in Article 47.1 of The League's Articles of Association and to any foreign Transferor Club (in so far as they are or will become creditors of the Club) and to its employees as they fall due' or

“(b) fulfil its obligations to play fixtures under the jurisdiction of The League; ог

“(c) be able to provide such rights, facilities and services as are required to enable The League to fulfil its commercial and broadcasting contracts; or

“(d) discharge all other financial obligations that the Club has without having to rely on equity, loan, donation or other non-trading income or injections.”

    Secure Funding embargo

"If the Estimated P&S Calculation or Relegated Club Estimated P&S Calculation results in a forecast loss that exceeds the Lower Loss Threshold, then the following shall apply:

    “2.10.1 - the Club shall provide, by 31 March in the current Season, Future Financial Information to cover the period commencing from its last accounting reference date (as defined in section 391 of the 2006 Act) until the end of T+2 and a calculation of estimated aggregated Adjusted Earnings Before Tax until the end of T+2 based on that Future Financial Information;

“2.10.2 - the Club shall provide such evidence of Secure Funding as The League considers sufficient; and

“2.10.3 - if the Club is unable to provide evidence of Secure Funding as set out in Rule 2.10.2, The League shall have the powers set out in Regulation 16.22.”

Note: outside a window clubs under embargo can only sign free agents when they have fewer than 16 ‘permitted players ‘ (players with three or more league starts at a club’s current level or higher over the course of his career). Wednesday already have 16 of them on their books.

  • Christ. If they arn’t due a points deduction then what on earth do you have to do to get one.

Do whatever they did the last time they got one, or was it two separate breaches they got penalized for.  I forget.

I'm sure another warning will do the trick.

No need to deduct points when it's only the 5th time in 7 months.

Cant see anything happening until close to the end of the season, however how mental that sounds.
  • Do you get points deductions for not paying the wages? Thought the punishment was embargos or the threat of being kicked out of the league if there's no fit and proper Director in charge

Yes, if it’s become a regular occurrence…not sure anyone could argue that isn’t the case now.

What's the point of a transfer embargo when the transfer window is SHUT.

There should be a points deduction NOW. Not next month, or at the end of the season. NOW.

Wednesday currently embargoed for the next 5 windows (3 for Hull).

But yes, a points deduction is now also well overdue.

Are the EFL the most useless governing body in sport?
  • They will be deducted points if they are already almost certain of relegation

  • At the moment, not over bothered about points deductions this season, as it would be a miracle if they finished outside of the bottom 3 anyway.

The Leicester situation is far more important in terms of where teams finish.

We're still waiting for the Leicester one even though it's been known that they breached the financial loss limit since the 23-24 season.

There doesn't seem to be any update or even rumours about what's happening with Leicester.

Surely by September 2025, the Premier League/EFL/Independent commission have figured out if the club did or didn't commit illegal losses.

It's staggering three bodies can't work it out. It should have been confirmed and ready for when Leicester would ever be relegated.

They were almost 100m over the loss limit, so it shouldn't really take much working out. It's not as if it's only 5-10m that could be argued about.

    This.

TV companies in Judge,Jury and executioner shocker!
  • When they still had saleable assets like their keeper whom they were offered proper money for in the summer it is gross miss management that they are not paying players on time this early after the window closed.  Don't like seeing any club go through it but the issue needs fixing, Chansiri seems a very bitter fella not to have sold up and moved on when he has clearly lose all interest.
