Parked car facing wrong direction so negatively impacted the journey home
Pint of Grolsh behind the stand was rank, barrel in process of being changed, didn’t even finish it.
Leaving ground I tripped over a step only to find the step was in fact a stewards size 28 boot. How such a freak menace to society isn’t a registered health hazard working in dimly lit crowds is an absolute disgrace.
The challenge was a red as he put an opponent at risk by thudding his studs down. There were alternative ways to play the ball out. I'd just focus on May not getting injured, rather than debate it for days.
Aneke actually assisted two (if you include the pen). CBT another goal and assist. Lovely finish from Miles and cute finishes from May.
The forwards helped out the defence today by delivering.
Just seen the 'foul' for the red card. That is an atrocious decision. Alfie May should be ashamed of himself for his reaction. I don't like to see that of our players. Very disappointing.
Another decent performance. I wasn't a fan of the Appleton appointment, but he has got us playing well. & more importantly, winning games. Fair play to him.
The only thing I would say is that he does have the luxury of a bolstered & near fully fit squad that Holden never had
To be honest he is a far better manager than Holden will ever be, and he is first to admit To any mistakes he makes while learning about his new team / club, so fair play to him as you say 👍👍👍
Very good all round home performance we had to stay calm as Exeter set up to let us have the ball but to hit us on the break , some of our football was really good as we tried to find the key to unlock the 10 man defence . Exeter scored which was out of the blue , but we did not panic got the deserved goal .. second we continued to dominate T Watson won the pen no complaints there , Aneke missed May scored .. then horrendous tackle on May could have broke his leg sending off … and we really took the game by the neck .. it was one of best home performances for a while
MOM L Watson
Think you need to watch that sending off again mate. Wasn't even a foul.
May saying he gave it to Chuks because he wanted to kickstart his season.
Giving someone a confidence boosting penalty is fine if the game is pretty much over. But if it's still tight then it should always be taken by the normal penalty taker.
If he misses and we get held to a draw or even go on to lose it, i think a lot of fans on here tonight would be fuming he took it.
Sounds like you are all starting to warm to Mapp a bit, which can only be a good thing at this stage.
Tell me, how bad were Exeter? Their great start to the season is rapidly falling apart after that 9-0 home defeat to Reading in the Mickey Mouse Trophy.
Our game at Orient was abandoned due to a medical emergency in the crowd; the poor man was still lying at the side of the pitch when they eventually decided to call it off at 10.30pm, so it looks like bad news. Football becomes a bit irrelevant at times.
4-1 probably was harsh on them and the sending off definitely was but they weren't great.
Real shame to hear about the guy at the other game, let's hope he does pull through.
Watching that for the first time and was told it was a red I would ask for who. Its not even a foul.
We have had more than our fair share not go away and they "even themselves out" so I won't lose any sleep over it.
Exeter mate in the away end thought it was straight red.
I wasn't sure from lower covered end, and saw a yellow after the red so thought the ref had changed his mind. I was enjoying the game and really didn't want to see them go down to 10 men, especially as it was only the 66th minute.
Seeing the replay i sympathise with the ref's decision as it looks like a 2 footed lunge. Technically, in slow-mo, not a sending off, but fully see why ref gave it in real-time.
Been banging on about Louie Watson, but he surpassed even what I’d hoped for. He’s like Dobson on acid. He’s always looking for space in midfield, making him easy to pass to. And when he gets the ball he’s looking to drive forward. Just what we’ve been missing since the days of Gallagher.
I also thought Hector was imperious today. Looked a class above (although did he mess up for their goal? Need to see a replay).
Chuks makes such a difference. Things happen when he gets the ball. Don’t mind him grabbing the ball for the pen. I like the passion.
Very happy with that second half. Let’s keep improving.

Yeah that's sort of my point, if the slow mo was the first time you saw it and were told it was a red you would ask who to and what for. The ref got it wrong, but 100% I get why he gave it.
Wouldn't even have been a yellow with VAR (actually, maybe not).
Tuesday night games against teams from the West Country seem to suit us. A great 4-1 win and a red card for them. Last year it was a great 5-1 win against Plymouth and a red card for them.
We're just let down by Saturdays.
We love playing at home to South Coast teams. Last season we beat Plymouth 5-1, Exeter 4-2, and Pompey 3-0
If Blackpool could relocate to the South Coast as well, we'd be certainties to win by a hatful on Saturday
We’ve lost as many matches as Barnsley, who are in 4th spot, 10 places ahead of us, Wembley here we come boys, keep the date free!!
We have 4 wins out of 6 home games. Still annoyed about how we lost to both Port Vale & Bristol Rovers. Hope those results don’t cost us as we should never have lost those two games.
Thought we were the better side but not sure about that formation.
I can see why MA wants to get as many of his attacking players on the pitch as possible but May isn't an attacking midfielder.
I thought L Watson was very busy and tried to break down a resolute Exeter team.
City looked better set up than us and more comfortable in their shape early on. They also got their speedy wide players on the ball up the pitch much better than we did first half.
But we showed some fight and got back into the game with another good CBT goal.
From that point I felt we'd go onto win which we did but helped greatly by the red card. Looked a foul to me in real time but not sure there was intent.
Tedic is a quietly good player, Thomas will get some stick but he's playing out of position and is a decent player and he got forward well. Hector and Jones were strong other than the goal, where City cleverly beat the offside trap.
Dobson was Dobson. How we need cover for him.
Good to see Aneke start, great header for the equaliser, finished his offside goal well (thought he was off and Teddy was on) but should have let Alf take the pen.
What a luxury to be able to bring Fraser, TC and Miles on.
We're four points off automatics, we're improving but still need to improve further but we're on two points per game under MA which is promotion form.
October is a busy month and it could turn out to be a vital month. Keep winning games and we'll climb into the top six before Halloween.
Forgot to say - if you watch Tedic, he is a quality player - made some cracking runs tonight, but so many times he wasn’t played in by the player on the ball - Tedic got understandably annoyed about it towards the end of the game - I hope they watch it back at Sparrows and show the players how many opportunities they missed to play him in beyond the last man - he has the football brain to beat an offside trap, provided he gets the ball played to him !!!

Think is often the problem with strikers on loan from prem clubs, they make great runs that l1 midfielders can’t pick out. I think Watson might be mega useful for that though
It’s so refreshing to see us shooting from outside of the box. Didn’t score from any of them tonight (or hit the target) but it’s felt like the last two season we were terrified to have a shot. Long hope it continues.
As for the red card, we need to get out of this shite league as soon as possible, by hook or by crook, or by diving and simulation. I have no issues with Alfie, it gave us the advantage, that we capitalised on. That's what good teams do, influence the game anyway possible. If any means gets us 3 points, then fecking do it. We're in the business of winning, not for getting accolades for fair play awards.
Flew down from Scotland in the afternoon and it was so worth the trip! A good fun evening. Virtually the last to leave The Oak and it’s a school night…oops.
May struggled a lot for most of first half in the ten role and that looked a problem for us. But the Duracell bunny kept on going and was well-rewarded in second half. Three out of our four goals were poacher finishes which makes a massive change. Leaburn’s a class strike - no stopping that.
From my Covered End upper vantage point, I was yelling for a straight red as their guy flew in though was somewhat suspicious by Alfie’s rolling around - at least I was pretty confident straight away that he wasn’t injured.
Agree that Hector looked much more composed and “on it” tonight. L Watson superb. CBT unstoppable. And well done to Chuks for showing from the start.
All I can say is sorry Exeter, we've had bad decisions go against us this season & tonight was payback time.
Saying that, we looked the better team & although they had a few corners & some half chances the only real save AMB had to make (apart from the goal) was in injury time where he stopped it being 4-2.
Didn't like the line up with May in midfield & Tedic out wide but after 30 mins May grew into his role & started finding pockets of space around the edge of the box.....which then into the 2nd half got bigger & more productive, leading to a sumptuous pass out to CBT and then raced into the box to bury the loose ball.
L Watson also grew into the game & his ball play & pass should have led to the first goal, only for the lino to flag Chuks offside (no need for VAR as they have no idea either). After that the midfielder battle was ours, with Watson, Dobbo & May passing it around for fun.
Shame Chuks couldn't get on the scoresheet after hitting the woodwork twice but Apples will have to sort out our penalty taker once & for all. None of this "its mine, no you take it" malarkey.
All in all a very pleasant evening.
My first home win on CAFC TV ✔ GD bettered ✔ The Golfie's well & truly put to bed ✔
But please Mr Apples, lets play our players in their proper positions, and once we get all out players fit we might just threatened the top 6.
We’ll play better than that and not win . but 3 points no matter how they come are much needed . points that I’ve not seen mentioned I think AMB was like slow motion trying to stop their goal at his near post exeter should have had a pen first half and Alfie encroached in to the D before Aneke struck the penalty great turnout for Exeter on a Tuesday night 741 and a healthy 10,834 Addicks seats issued 😀
