January 2024 Transfer Rumours (D/day starts pg.263)

  • Heard that we were looking at Cameron Humphreys from Ipswich on loan. Assume it’s to replace Camera when his loan is cancelled in Jan.
  • We need to make the signings now, not the summer.

This way, we’ll then have a full summer to look to loan them out after they disappoint over the next few months.

"After scoring just 1 goal in 20 games since joining in January 2024 for £230m, Charlton Athletic have agreed to loan Erling Haaland to Cambridge United. It is expected that Charlton will pay the majority of his £500k a week salary."

'i think i was better playing up front but mr apples said i was a natural winger and he wears stone island and a pair of shiny big black oversized clown boots so i wasn't going to argue with him'

    1. JCH scored 2 for Peterborough tonight, doesn't look a busted flush.
    2. Anyone upset about our shite defending watch the Peterborough v Barnsley highlights for Peterborough defending for both goals against. 🤣🤣

Would probably rather Humphrys to JCH, both would be incredible. I am going to predict neither so I am not disappointed!
  • Make noise now on JCH and Humphries but end up with plan c when the sign for other teams

Appleton thought we played well last night so forgive me for taking everything he says or suggests with a vat of salt

Neither JCH or Humphreys will be signing for this crock of shit! They can check on the availability of Erling Haaland if they like, still won’t be signing him. Utter bollocks.

In fairness, If the players hadn’t let him down with their Sunday league defending in the 94th minute then it would have been a good away point.

Fair enough. I assume all loan deal has a break clause in the January window. Plus, his name was mentioned in the injury update by the club this week.

The question then is what’s he doing to rectify it.

That’s now 5 goals conceded in the last 5 league games with goals going in from the 80th minute onwards.

Standing there like a wax work from Madame Tussaud’s is not exactly helpful or inspiring

He’s already told Andy Scott how to fix the problem.

Stop buying / loaning soft youngsters and bring in some experienced leaders.
  • I think we might get two strikers in but I doubt it would be both JCH and Humphrey’s.

If we got strikers in would Appleton play them as strikers though? 😂

    My priorities would be:

    New GK
    New LB
    New creative CM
    New RW
    New target man forward

That should be the starting point, and that's assuming we don't lose anybody.

With the exception of GK I don’t think your list is very far wide of the mark.
  • I still think Isted will take over in goal & be a decent player for us if he is able to stay imjury free, brilliant story for how MB came to us but he is not a young player anymore and other then the occasional brilliant save I just don't believe he is up to it.

I'd still want another CB in tbh, one who is left footed, big and nasty

3 bids from us rejected for JCH according to Barry Fry , Posh want a "significant fee" but less than the £800k Bristol Rovers had agreed in the summer

We will need to sign a new left back first. I’d probably start Thomas ahead of Edun next game anyway

Edun for me has been one of the biggest letdowns , would definitely be looking for another option there.

Also surprised to see Reading linked to anyone with their embargoes
  • I don't think we have a single truly reliable CB at the club currently, so any we can push out the door and replace is a good thing IMO.

    They are welcome to TT.

Interesting comments on there from Fry on JCHs personality which goes against what has been on here lately.

Fry’s a salesman. He’s making him sound like he’s up for a Nobel Peace Prize

What formation would you be playing if we got those in and didn’t lose anyone?
