    It was the enhanced maternity pay bit I'd forgotten, until you mentioned it. 

    So my missus had to come back for a while otherwise she would've lost (at least some of ) the enhanced maternity pay she'd got - which in practice meant giving up (or offsetting) some of the additional holiday pay she was entitled to.  

    So, back to my original point, which was that I guess it will ultimately depend on the maternity policy in place at the time and what she signed up to.
