Just read this one on reddit... John Tyler (10th President of the United States), was born in 1790

    He has a living Grandson.
That is an astonishing fact. Almost unbelievable.
think he had a son well into his 70's who also had a son in his 70's
John Tyler (b.1790) had at least 15 children.  Mary, Robert, John, Letitia, Elizabeth, Anne, Alice and Tazewll, with his first wife; and David, John Alexander, Julia, Lachlan, Lyon (b.1853), Robert fitzWalter and Margaret with his second wife.

Lyon had six children.  John, Elizabeth and Julia with his first wife; Lyon Jr, Harrison (b.1928) and Henry.

Harrison celebrated his 96th birthday on Saturday.
Fifteen kids! No telly in them days.
Fifteen by his wives.  Rumoured to have had several more by some of his slaves.
Scurrilous rumours spread by social media and the gutter press

    Harrison Tyler died in May.

Just doing the numbers here - I’m supposing a soldier was, say, 20 at the end of the civil war, then when he reached the age of 80 in 1925, married a 20 year old, who then lived to be 115.
Is that about how it went?

You’re right though; although possible, it doesn’t sound true!

Yeah what he said. She came from a large and poor family and they married during the Great Depression so I suppose the arrangement suited both parties. They never lived together.

The Cleopatra one reminds me of this beauty:

Spurs’ most recent League title was closer to the reign of Queen Victoria than the reign of King Charles III.

Mount Everest isn't the tallest mountain on Earth, but it IS the one that reaches highest above sea level. There are others that are taller from foot to peak but several kilometers of that height are below the surface of the water.

Reminds me of the fact about John Tyler, the former US President - he was born in 1790 but had a grandson who only died last year.

My favourite Everest fact (we all have one, right?)

The first time it was accurately measured it turned out to be exactly 29,000ft but surveyors were worried the public would assume it was simply an estimate so published the official height as 29,002ft.
