MATCH THREAD (+POSTp22): Gillingham vs Charlton Athletic: FA Cup🏆(2): Sat 2nd Dec 2023 | KO 3.00PM

So 2nd round of the FA Cup today, with the relatively short trip down the A2 to the The Priestfield... with the chance to mix it up with the so called "Big Boys" in the 3rd round after we get this lot out of the way...
We have gone toe-to-toe on 39 previous occasions winning 18, Gills seven and the remaining 14 games producing draws, our last competitive meeting came at The Valley in August 2022, running out 3-0 victors in the EFL Trophy...
Gills have three of our previous players on the books in Lapslie, Willams, and of course Bonne, unsure if any of these will be in their lineup, but just make sure Bonne don't score...ok...

We have sold out our allocation and can look forward to 1600 Addicks making the trip, so hopefully they can have a good game and result to reward their efforts on a cold December Saturday...

Anyway, here we go...

Nathan Asiimwe, Lucas Ness, Louie Watson, Tyreece Campbell and Boban Tedić all start today's Emirates FA Cup second-round tie away to Gillingham as Michael Appleton makes five changes from from the team that beat Cheltenham Town on Tuesday.

Tennai Watson, Michael Hector and Scott Fraser move to the bench while Conor McGrandles (calf) and Miles Leaburn (hamstring) miss out with injury

The Addicks are expected to line-up in a 4-2-3-1 formation with Asiimwe, Ness, Lloyd Jones and Tayo Edun playing in a back four in front of Ashley Maynard-Brewer.

Skipper George Dobson is joined by Louie Watson in midfield with Tyreece Campbell, Alfie May and Corey Blacket-Taylor operating behind Tedić.

Tennai Watson, Hector and Fraser are joined on the bench by Sam Walker, Terell Thomas, Harvey Kedwell, Karoy Anderson, Daniel Kanu and Micah Mbick.

Charlton: Maynard-Brewer; Asiimwe, Ness, Jones, Edun; Dobson (c), L.Watson; T.Campbell, May, Blackett-Taylor; Tedić

Subs: Walker, T.Watson, Hector, Thomas, Kedwell, Anderson, Fraser, Kanu, Mbick

Good line up...Kanu & Mbick on the bench, should be strong enough to get the job done without the need for any replay...
