Cambridge came to the Valley in poor form and under very new management, with Neil Harris only appointed a few days ago. The visitors had probably the better of the first half, which was scrappy and uninspiring. They thrived on set pieces, having seven corners in the half, but failed to truly test Ashley Maynard-Brewer. Charlton were scrappy, defended resolutely, but found it difficult going forward.
The second half was much better for the Addicks. Alfie May scored on 51 minutes, set up by substitute Daniel Kanu, making an immediate impact. Charlton scored again through brilliant wing play from Corey Blackett-Taylor bursting into the box with successive stepovers and stutter steps before lofting an inch-perfect cross to find Chem Campbell’s head. At two up, Charlton looked good for the three points. That is, until the wheels fell off. With lagging legs, substitutions were made, but when the first went in on 87 minutes, from a basic corner set piece and a free header, the writing was on the wall. With our inability to keep clean sheets we always look vulnerable and, though we defended well for 85 minutes, we just couldn’t see the game out and the momentum shifted to the away side. With 8 minutes of added time, Cambridge had enough left to manufacture a comeback. The leveler came as the result of a rather dubious penalty, after Tayo Edun clipped the Cambridge attacker’s legs what looked to be a yard outside the box. Nevertheless, a penalty was given and dispatched in the 96th minute.
We’re an okay side going absolutely no where right now. We’re not tough enough and we’re not clever enough to be competing at the right end of the table and it remains seen whether anything significant will be done in the January transfer window to change it.
Charlton 2 Cambridge 2
Over to you.

We need to get in some players who are up for the fight in January. Or wait till the summer because we're not going to make the play offs.
the penalty looked outside to me but we shouldn't have let them dominate for large periods to let them back in.
as long as I have a hole in my arse, I will not understand taking off May and leaving mbick, Kanu and Campbell as our first line of defence.
Looking forward to his aftermatch excuses, just a cheap as chips appointment!
Guess he's hurting more than us supporters, starting Rylah whats that all about?
Season’s practically over & it’s 9th Dec!! They’ll do well to give away them half season tickets.
I know we’ve got injuries, but Appleton looks clueless when it comes to team selection. Why put that kid in in the first half? He genuinely looks like he’s taking a wage knowing he’d have run out of ideas by March.
All it took was balls into our box for us to fall apart and Cambridge fully deserved the draw and to come back, if not more over the 90
Sick of seeing that spineless wretch of a man Fraser continue to get a place in this team. The Scottish Pirlo ffs. I’ll take a tartan pillow in the midfield ahead of him.
However, if we hadn’t switched off and given away a stupid goal 5-10 minutes earlier, that poor decision by the ref wouldn’t have had the impact it did.
We can talk all day about other teams scoring three today, and if we’d done the same, we’d have won.
When Blackpool only need one goal to win a game of football, and Charlton need three, it’s surely obvious where the problems are.
