Is Pope causing himself an issue if he gets runs down the order this series? Smith obviously the better keeper but also probably the better batter at 3 and Pope scoring runs down the order gives a decision to Stokes et al
Nobody wanting to bat in the top 3 is one of the things keeping Zak in the side. We have lots of 4-7 Bazball options, but not many at the top of the order.

We know what the obvious solution looks like but Root thinks he's more Kohli than Williamson in that respect. This is Root's average by position:
It's not as if 3 is a position that is foreign to him either (22% of all innings as opposed to 58% at 4) and his average opening is better than both of our current incumbents too. There again, I don't think we should show him the above because he might demand to bat at 5
The Barmy Army trumpeter is very near the crowd microphones!
At least they have microphones. There was a break-in at the ground overnight - the culprits cut through the wire fences and stole a couple of cameras from the talksport box and a load of stuff from the venue including laptops and beers. Not sure how much they'll get for second hand beers on the open market but you never know what members of the Barmy Army might be prepared to pay.

The advantage of the Bazball style is that we're now well on our way to 500 and a big lead.
