Crawley isn’t going anywhere, not until and unless there’s a natural replacement available. They picked Bethell at 3 ffs!1
-
82-1 (15) at lunch and a lead of 237
Duckett 39* (44)
Bethell 34* (39)
Partnership of 73 (82)0 -
It’s all eyes on The Ashes for this management and I can’t see a better candidate for fast pitches than Crawley so they will stick with him.
The irony is that he’s an English opener but his nemesis is the sort of pitches he faces in the county game and in places such as NZ.2 -
If his name was Zak Warner or David Crawley he might be averaging 50 😂0
-
Bethell’s Test batting average currently sits at 94… watch out Don Bradman1
-
Crawley found the fielder, which is what happens when you're struggling and desperate for runs, as once the first 5-10 overs passed, it's looked very easy out there.0

When was the last time there was such a clamour for England's highest scorer in one Ashes series to be dropped for the next one?1

Fuck sake, I’m on the same side as Chizz on a cricket thread.
Bedsaddick, I concede, you are right and I’m wrong.2 -

I'm not sure that is correct - as things stand he has scored 125 runs for being twice out so his average is 62.500 -
Second 50 * (52) for Bethell in his four innings in Test cricket0
-
50* (59) for duckett
115-1 and a lead of 2700 -
Gutted for Ollie Robinson most of all but also for his family and friends that specially made the trip but unless we decide to move Bethell up to open (which is effectively what he's been doing given he's been at the crease on all four occasions inside four overs) or "rest" him, assuming we go 2-0 up, then Ollie won't be making his debut on this tour. At least they've all had a decent holiday and he knows that he is, depending on what happens next summer in the CC, potentially Smith's understudy for the Ashes, assuming that we take two regular keepers that is.

Bethell sees the short ball so early and that short-armed pull is such a dismissive shot.2
-
New Zealand aren't having much luck with false shots, but that's what happens when the field is spread because of the fast scoring rate0
-
It’s quite hard to go to bed at tea because there will be carnage afterwards. Good or bad carnage is yet to be seen…0

Stayed up to see Bethell get his ton. He just got a bit loose as he got near his century, but a great knock0
-
Duckett also gets out on the 90s, and with that I'm off to bed!0
