England's risk in playing Hull in place of Potts didn't help today either. Bowlers do need some mileage in their legs to become battle hardened, and Hull's inexperience and lack of physical "toughness" did show.
Potts would have strengthened the batting too.2 -

The man responsible for the former is 33 year old England international Jack Leach and the other is someone 15 years his junior by the name of Archie Vaughan who also opened the batting and scored 44 off 107 balls - an opening bat who bowls off spin by the name of Vaughan. The apple really doesn't fall far from the tree sometimes.0

I was in a way happy to see that Sri Lanka had a relatively small target to aim for in the last innings. Wanted to see how we get on trying to stifle and get them out in the field whilst under pressure. Well we didn't.
Still at least Coldplay aren't number 1 every week.1 -

I've no idea what our bowling attack will be like in Pakistan, which seems to be less spin dominated than the rest of the subcontinent.

Interesting that Woakes is being given another go as a tourist. Can see him doing well if he gets to NZ but can see Atkinson and Potts being more dangerous in Pakistan0

A weird situation where the 2 openers are basically undroppable, as you can't see England choosing to leave either of them out if they struggle.0 -

I still think it's a risk taking Josh Hull tbh.
He needs a full season of county cricket under his belt before playing test matches abroad.
If he's picked for the Ashes tour I reckon they will destroy him
Only positive I can see in taking him is he will gain good experience of what touring is about.

Relying on Saqib,Jofra and Topley to stay fit is a gamble in itself. Even the likes of Bethall can bowl part time spin even if in that lineup it won't be needed.
Feels like you could switch Overton for an out and out batsman and not lose anything.1 -
One to watch for the future - 17 year old Harry Moore and England U19 who looks like he's going to be a real handful for batters in years to come. Made his FC debut for Derbyshire this week against Northants and returned 10-5-16-1 opening the bowling in the first innings and to date has 6-3-6-2 in the second innings.0

Archie (Charlie Vaughan played for Charlton) out bowled and out batted Shakib Al Hasan too. Right arm seamer, definitely tall enough but difficult to tell how quick but he's certainly hurried a few of the opposition batters and is only 17 so plenty of time to fill his frame yetCallumcafc said:
