A positive in the final sentence in the SLP report, confirmation that the money men are getting more involved, which probably explains why standards and budget have increased recently.
I imagine they didn't want to see their multi million pound investment go down the tubes and couldn't trust what Methven was telling them anymore.

Jones was on the final two man shortlist for the Millwall job.

    Thought this was interesting too:

Curtis Fleming took caretaker charge of Charlton’s 1-1 draw at Blackpool last weekend, assisted by Jason Pearce.

The pair are expected to still be at the helm for Saturday’s home match against Derby County.

American investors Gabriel Brener and Joshua Friedman took a more hands-on approach to the process of bringing in the new man after the short tenures of both Dean Holden and Michael Appleton.

Jones left Southampton in February 2023 so does this mean he could if he wished applied for the position when we sacked Holden?

Even more excellent news, the owners have recognised this lot would struggle to solve a game of cluedo even, and stepped in.

Next step gents, give Curbs their jobs, he will do a ten times better job, I can assure you.
  • Yeah. Scott was busy trying to convince Kayne Ramsay to sign.

Given we appointed Holden and then Appleton I’m sure Jones would have been out of our budget at the time.
This, it feels like with the money men being more hands on, seems the budget will have been increased for a new manager as well as an increased player budget. Be interesting to know why the money men have stepped up there interest not that it's a bad thing of course.

ALL sides  ?  How many are there ? Surely there are just 2 - CAFC and Jones.

BOTH sides would be more apt / grammatical.
YES his terms might be that Scott has to leave before he becomes the Manager
  • Now to just stay up and Jones can build his team in summer, exciting times
  • If its Jones then that's fantastic news! If it's the money men stepping in to protect their investment from Scott and Co. that's even better! Now if we can get a No 10 in during the next 35 minutes...it'll be superb!
  • Friedman and Brener then.

If it’s Jones, then it’s a reason to be positive.  A definite step up on Garner, Holden and Appleton.  We really need this appointment to work.  Good signs
That’s a big leap of faith for you mate! Cheerful, Reasons to be Cheerful 😉

why are people now obsessed with Scott .. been said he has no influence on the playing side his job is solely recruitment like Steve Gallen … and CM has no say in the day to day running of the club .. again been said to many times yet people still go on and on
I'd say choosing the manager has very big influence on the playing side. And he's shown he's pretty useless at that.
  • Excited by Jones. Let’s support the man and write off this season.

Scott - your days are numbered.

With a bit of luck they are realising that Rodwell, Scott and Methven are not up to the job and are damaging their investment. Private equity and hedge fund types don't give many chances.

Also confirms who is leading/controlling the investment consortium.
  • Brener and Friedman probably have the crosshairs on others, not Scott
  • I'm now wondering who leaks to who. Some very credible people on this forum have had different info to Cawley on some things, and been right where Cawley has been wrong, and talked up some parties.

Cawley now feeds a line about Brener amd Friedman, otherwise hitherto unmentioned, possibly as a condition of getting this news, and to reposition their influence? Interesting.

If I may draw a comparison from the NFL, very respected talking heads who break news like Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport often tweet news with "this deal was negotiated by X agent" or "[personnel involved in hiring] was a big say in this appointment", and it's clearly a line from their source.

So I wonder if there's a bit of selective leaking going on!

Why not Scott if he did most of the recruiting?

I thought Scott was the Director of Football no? However if you’ve seen his job specification, I bow to your superior knowledge. Any chance of posing it up on here ?😏
