I spoke personally to Thierry and asked him if he’s signing a contract to stay and he said he’s staying at Charlton. He may have said it just to pacify me his words were it’s already done. Don’t shoot the messenger.
Just a reminder that George Dobson, Alfie May and Corey Blackett-Taylor, all told me they would stay at Charlton, shook my hand on it, and Dobson & CBT both said its all on the club not them, as they love it here.
Biggest concern with Aneke extension is he probably wouldn’t accept a wage decrease and a pay as u play contract but also means we have to have an additional striker on the books and not sure that striker would be happy being out of the squad every week knowing there basically just a rebound from Aneke until he gets injured. Personally think it’s better for a complete reset from the last few years worked well with Dobson and May going even if it didnt look right them leaving at the time
And Dobson and May were available to play well every week from the start .

Interesting! I managed to get a picture with Thierry after the game and muttered to his friend that 'he's off now isn't he'. He replied with a nod and a yes. I doubt that he thought I was referring to the walk from the dressing room to Boxpark.
Would've thought for the contracted players, their money gets automatically bumped up with promotion through their existing contracts, so surely it follows that Small will now get a much improved offer?
If he still thinks he can go to a "better" club, I think he's mistaken. He mightve had a point back in October / November, buy not now we're Championship. I'd say we're very much his level. Same goes for Ramsey imo

Proper rumour post this. The summer is officially upon us.

All three left.
Yeah but it weren't May's fault. Apparently that was down to his wife and Jones.
As Speculation is what football and life appears to be about unfortunately I think Thierry will leave. Just a gut feeling after Small was taken off in both the semi final and final when he still had a lot more to give.
Just my opinion but if that was Small against a tiring defense in the position that Mbick was in he would have gone outside or inside and on the big stage would have delivered.
When I watched both the semi final and final back I felt frustrated for Thierry despite being ecstatic we got the results.
I believe for his career's sake the popular Thierry Small will move on and he will be played more on the left and will be on the field at the business end of games. The option of being on the right is fine as he can go inside or outside.
The Edwards and TC on the left and Ramsey and Small on the right worked well and turned cafc season around with the rocks Lloyd and Macca in the middle of the defence with Coventry in front of them.
I would love Small to stay but I can see him turning up at Leicester, Saints or Ipswich and being used more as an attacking threat with less defensive responsibility.

I think the opposite, if he moves it'll be to a team who move him back to LB/LWB.
I also spoke to Thierry after the game and he told me 'we are working on it' so another version,I now think its whether Nathan thinks that now we are in Championship we can do better for the money it will cost to keep him and if we can get someone in who he thinks will give more consistency and options to the team

LWB is definitely a strong possibility but if he's at any of the 3 Premier relegated clubs who I personally feel will be in and around the top 6, Small will spend more time in the opponents half as he can go past people with ease.* I appreciate Championship full backs are a level above League 1.
*With the mandatory running the ball out of play once during the game !
I also spoke to him after the game. I asked him if he was staying, and he whispered: "When the seagulls follow the trawler, it is because they think sardines will be thrown into the sea."
Feeling very left out here, I must be the only person at Wembley, who didn’t speak to Thierry, after the match!
150,000 watched the Huddersfield 7-6 match. 100,000 went to the St Andrews playoff match 120,000 spoke to Thierry Small on Sunday and asked him whether he was staying or leaving

I heard about Pardew sleeping with the player's wives, didn't realise Jones was up to it too.

Alfie May/ CBT was probably a money moves tbf (Charlton making something on them), Dobson didn't return when his previous deal fell through
Am I the only one who personally thinks Nathan Jones doesn’t want Small. Look back to the start of the season he was always meant to be a backup to Edwards only really got a chance when Ramsay and Watson both got injured at the same time, even then Zach, REG and TC were played there before the infamous Northampton game where small started at RWB. At 19 obviously would be stupid to not offer him a contract because of his massive resale potential and what he can become but feels very much like a Dobson situation offer him a salary and role that values him as a squad player and if he signs it great but if he moves on we have someone to come in who Jones would prefer

If he'd signed that'd put a pen emoji or something equally on the nose.
