he was never staying contract or no contract he told the club that before the play off final … a young man who had 6 clubs ???? Tells its own story .. he won’t be at Preston next year unless they go up ??2 -

He just has a hobby he needs to satisfy, collecting signing on fees.1

NJ really not holding back on Small here

heheh, Nathan can be a right salty so and so, I chuckled away to that0

Absolute lottery for journos interviewing Nathan jones - are you going to get a strip torn off you or some golden copy out of the Brian Clough playbook?0

For what it's worth, I wouldn't read too much into Small's comments on why he signed for Preston - new signings always cite one of about 3 reasons for moving clubs and always say "this is the only place I wanted to come", but strangely never mention the pay rise they are usually getting as well.3
-
A rare case of a net positive all around I think, we helped get his career back on track, he helped us get promoted, Preston gained a decent attacking wing back, Small got a pay rise, and we ended up strengthening that side of our team with Apter and Bree, everyone wins really.3

Ah, I see the more zen, chilled-out Nathan Jones of recent weeks has left the building 🤣8
-
Last line is a cracker 😄"More productivity, play-off final, got promoted….I’m actually looking for my bottle of wine."

At a guess he easily doubled his salary, and moved into a substantially bigger property up there at a fraction of the price compared to where he was living.1 -
It's worked out ok for him, and for us by the looks, so everyone is a winner really.
I still think its an odd move on paper.... we ended up spending a good amount and up to now look just as comfortable at this level as they do. We have bigger crowds and generally look to have more momentum for the long term. I would have got it if he went to Ipswich, Leicester or even someone like Coventry.
It was just a bit odd that he went there, if he had any idea we were going to strengthen as we did.
Anyhow no hard feelings - he played a role getting us up, and seems to be doing well there.3 -
You can live like a king in Preston too0
-
Think Jones may have slightly took Small’s the manager wanted me comments on why he signed a bit to heart0

https://www.lep.co.uk/sport/football/preston-north-end/thierry-small-reation-preston-north-end-vs-charlton-athletic-boos-5346081The boos for Small were there right from the off. I wasn't sure which way it would go, I did kinda wonder if he'd look back on his time with us fondly and be one of those where he came over to acknowledge the fans at the start etc. Obviously didn't turn out that way, and seems Ramsay was given a single task and that was being all over the guy and gave him no quarter, was proper brutal at times. But also had to admit feeling quite pleased every time his crosses went out for a throw.
Saying that, should've put money on him scoring for free money...1 -
Those booing him today were an absolute embarrassment.
He didn’t leave Charlton on bad terms. He left Charlton as a promotion winner who moved on to a new challenge that benefits himself a bit more than it maybe would have benefited us. It’s no big deal.
Didn’t deserve tons of boos, and probably didn’t deserve the red carpet either. But giving him that reaction made an unecessary enemy, who deep down, I don’t think many of the braindead booers genuinely have that much malice against. But I guess they think it makes them look a bit hard.
And then it ended up massively backfiring and embarrassing us. Well done 👍49
