They used to do a Sunday radio show on Planet Rock. I heard it by accident just before Christmas a few years ago, the two of them discussing music and food, interspersed with a lot of mate this and mate that. Just listening to them discuss roast potatoes and chat, with a bit of The Kinks or The Stones, beautiful escapism.
The BBC have an article up that's half news item and half obituary. Really interesting life story. Hadn't realised that he had a second claim to fame, as the first male make-up artist at the BBC. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-68433675
Gutted by this one. Loved the shows and thought he was on the road to recovery after their most recent shows. My wife used to work at Jaguar in Aylesford and met him when he came in to buy a car, said he was just a lovely, genuine guy.

Very sad to hear this news. I really liked the Hairy Bikers shows, you could tell they were genuine friends. Cancer is a terrible disease and it kills far too many people in this country. RIP Dave thanks for the laughs and recipes. God bless you sir xxx
As an old biker and ex (I hope) cancer sufferer I can identify with him and thought the pair had great chemistry together. Always enjoyed their shows and banter. RIP.
