Does anyone remember Bobby Brown who went to St Austin’s Charlton early 60’s?

Very good footballer who could have possibly turned pro if he had bothered.
Was he the Robert Brown who was murdered in Plumstead in 2004?

Article says he was 56 and a former amateur footballer, so possibly fits your description. Dreadful story. The killer, a 63 year old drug addict, had only just arrived at the flats, having left a bail hostel. Brown had never even met him before. Not sure how he’d be given a life term, but be eligible for parole after 3 years.

Not personally, but two can play that game.
    His Prerogative
  • Unbelievable that a murderer is eligible for release after just 3 years. He was only in the flats because he was formerly in a bail hostel.

If two can play at that game, what happens if we are On Our Own?

I was there 63-68 but don't recall the name. May have been a few years above me which would have put in the same years at Lucy Masiello.

If he was 56 I doubt if he was at St Austin's early 60's. I'm 71.

he was 56 in 2005 so probably born 1949/1950, so possibly, as you say a few years above you at school unless St A's was a primary school ? .. just supposing

    Aged 56 in 2005.
So would have been 74/75 now.

Correct…..into the bargain he liked pubs and getting out and about, he also had two children but was separated from his wife (Sue) and it sounds like he was living alone at his flat, which would be exactly the same as the Bob Brown that I knew and played football with.
He originally came from Catford and lived a few doors along from Johnny Summers in Arngask Road.

No…..it runs parallel with Brownhill Road between Torridon Road and St Fillans Road.
  • Exactly correct, he was a school year younger than me.
Surely it must be him…..but I’m amazed I didn’t know as he was a well known character back in the day and I knew him well.
