There are some awful people posting about the Royal Family on X (Twitter).  Some are suggesting it's a hoax and that it's being  announced 'to save the Crown'. What an  awful twisted mind to even consider that.

I am a royalist, in my personal view they are intrinsic to the very essence of this country.  Everybody knows someone or has personal experience of this awful disease, to make light of this or accuse it of being made up is horrific.

The story has been handled badly, but it is not an easy thing to handle. For a start it coincided with the King's own diagnosis, near enough to the day.  Then she is a 42 year old mother of 3 who gets very little privacy as it is, with a husband who is already dealing with his father having cancer.

I lost my dad 4 years ago to cancer after an 8 year battle, condolences to you @palarsehater.

The  irony (hypocrisy?) of all the news channels reporting on the news last night / today commenting solemnly on the right to privacy whilst broadcasting live from Windsor and commenting extensively.

    Leave them alone.
  • My condolences and best wishes to anyone touched by cancer. With one in two of us likely to have a cancer diagnosis at some point that’s pretty much everybody.

Well they have a duty and a right to report on it, but also correct to say that all the prior speculation and badgering was intrusive.

Agree with the above and we will keep it to  50%. The figure is high because of the amount of over 75's now compared to 80 years ago when many died before 65 with either wars or other illnesses to blame.

Empathy with Kate as she tackles Cancer and joins the club that I and no one wanted/wants to join.

A young angelic Nurse at Marsden, Sutton called it the "individual cancer Journey" and once you see the Macmillan support group lanyard on the person sitting next to the consultant at your local Hospital you know the result of your biopsies before a word is spoken and before being passed on to the Oncology hospital.

The best scenario is the cancer is localized and not aggressive; No stage 4 and beyond.
Rich or poor, Prince or pauper, Cancer is egalitarian; It doesn't discriminate.
Sure it's a postcode lottery and you really don't want COVID to take centre stage as vital time, can and was lost for cancer patients.

Mixing with terminally ill cancer folk at Chelsea and Sutton Marsden and their calm acceptance of their fate is so humbling.
while they are still having chemotherapy or/and Radiotherapy hoping for a miracle or a breakthrough with science.

Life ending for many, Life changing for most.
Green light means you can breath again and go back to the ups and downs of paying bills, having a laugh, seeing your team lose ! and for the lucky ones, no visible signs of the "individual cancer Journey"

I know that for some guys on CL you have major obstacles with the Big C and your daily struggle with life and its aftermath.

    Take care.

That's it though mate, all we get nowadays is peoples "rights", what people are more sheepish about is their "responsibilties". Their responsibilty not to be a cnut. Media and Social Media in general really is at it's lowest form in cases like this.

I am a staunch Republican, How a family, unelected, who do not answer to anybody, is allowed to have such an influence on public life of the UK in the 21st century is quite beyond me.
There wealth is largely stolen, the titles and rows of medals are quite laughable.
The Royal family treat the general public as an necessary annoyance. We are drip fed news, and treated as they see us, working class oiks.

While it is always tragic when any person contracts cancer, it is even more tragic when it is a Mother with 3 children under the age of 13.
However, she will have not have the added issues of money worries, a queue for any treatment or have to worry about the standard of the Oncologist, or about having to juggle the many difficulties that working people have just to get on with.

I wish her well and a speedy recovery, as i would anybody stuck down by this dreadful disease.

Not sure this is the right time to be airing views about republicanism. I won't pretend to say I know how the royals view the public, but stereotyping to suit a staunch republican narrative hasn't convinced me.

I wish her a speedy recovery along with all fighting cancer, which doesn't discriminate, and it would be good if everyone could benefit from the the best standards of treatment and care.

I'm still convinced she's been replaced and the cancer story's a cover while they train up a new lizard.

Joking aside I hope she gets well soon.

On a lighter note, on Twitter yesterday "Sussex squad" was trending, but sadly that related to the Harry and Meghan obsessives, rather than the unsuccessful cricketers based in Hove.

Not really important and a bit of an irrelevance especially in light of what is going on now. But surely incorrect. Her name is Kate Middleton but her title is Catherine the Princess of Wales.
All the very best to you Kate.

I’m a staunch republican but that doesn’t prevent me having enormous sympathy for her and her loved ones. Why on earth would it ?

Kate rumours linked to Russian disinformation

I don't know why they bother, the jobless idiots with too much time on their hands on Facebook (anyone still on Facebook seems to have an IQ under 85 and be aged between 40-70) do a good enough job stirring and chatting shit.

    Idle hands and all that!

Why some think it's their right to know private details about her, I have no idea.

As to airing their 'theories' about the situation....give me strength.

It's hard to do, but ignoring social media appears to be the best strategy for everyone's well being and mental health.  Mostly it's a cesspool of envy, hate and narcissism.

Get well soon, Kate and all the others hereabouts dealing with this horrible condition.

The Princess of Wales says she is making “good progress” after her cancer diagnosis and will attend Trooping the Colour on Saturday.

This will be her first public appearance this year following the diagnosis, and her abdominal surgery in January.

But in a personal message, Catherine says her treatment is still ongoing and will continue for another few months.

  • Just seen her at the Trooping of the Colour and although she is quite thin anyway she looked even thinner. Hopefully she continues to make "good progress" and gets back to full health.

It is certainly quite common to lose weight when you are on chemotherapy. Nothing to be alarmed about

The Princess of Wales has spoken of her relief at completing her course of chemotherapy, in a highly personal video released by Kensington Palace.
