The current reminiscence group usually meet at Valley Central but today we hosted them in the museum because the founder of the original reminiscence, Andy Soloman, wanted to meet them and see the museum.

Andy also had some incredible donations for the museum:
55 cassette tapes of interviews with members of the original reminiscence group from the 80s and 90s.
These include interviews with fans going back to the 1920s and relatives of two key figures from the very earliest days of the club.
The players interviewed include Les Fell, Derek Ufton, Don Welsh and Sailor Brown.
And there's even a current lifer on the list.
The reel to reel tape contains interviews with of fans at the 1989 Valley clean up.
We now have the task of digitising and catalouging all the tapes to preserve and then present them.20 -
But there is more.
A contract with Humphrey's the builders for the construction of the main stand in 1922.
The cost of the stand nearly killed the club or more accurately our inability to pay for it did and indirectly lead to the move to Catford18 -
And there was a "Holy Grail" moment when Andy Soloman handed over the long missing and presumed lost 1923/24 board minutes that cover the disastrous move to Catford 5/5 We're open today and tomorrow from 11 to 2.30

Fascinating stuff! Amazing to see this trove of information about the early years of CAFC in the museum’s possession.1

Some of the Rem Group guys have started the process of digitising the tapes starting with an interview with Peter Croker, which is now in MP3 format.
The guys are looking at doing around five tapes a week, starting with the tapes of a grandparent of a lifer who was part of the original group, while the museum is converting the reel to reel tape from the Valley clean up day that was also donated by Andy.
The reminiscence group are meeting at the Museum again this Thursday afternoon as their usual venue, Valley Central, isn't available. New members always welcome.1 -
Update.
Peter Hawkins has now digitised all the tapes in MP3 and WAV
Mostly good sound quality I'm told (there approximately 75 hours worth).
Next step is to get the tapes uploaded to the interweb somewhere, even the 56 mins of Nigel Pamment, so everyone can access them.4 -

All the tapes are now available for free on the museum's Youtube channel.
Only two still images per tape but we need a volunteer with better video skills than ours to add still and moving images to the tapes.0 -
I love that this group exists. Would really like to attend one day, I’m sure I don’t have as much history to reminisce about as some of the others but I’d love to just hear the stories.1
