To me, those lists of signings for each club are starting to look like there are only two teams with a real plan for a team that will challenge for promotion have followed through with it so far and that’s us and Peterborough with the difference being Posh are going for bargain basement prices to get targets they can potentially sell on in a year or two and Nathan is going for players that WILL do a job now and most likely next season for starters if we are in the Championship. So far, nobody else convinces me that they will be serious contenders this season but, hey, there’s still plenty of time in the transfer window to go except they will be starting their preparations a lot later than Charlton and Peterborough.
750k for Langstaff 400k (allegedly) for the potential outgoing of Leonard And now 400k for El Mizouni.
Seems a bit steep when you compare it
As boring as it sounds, surely you can only judge the best value-for-money signings at the end of the season.
The end of the season will show whether you’ve got the best out of your ‘value for money’ signings if you’ve done your homework for people to think you’ve underpaid.
Also why do we always believe the lowest numbers quoted for everyone else's signings and the highest number quoted for our signings? We do the same when we sell players, everyone else apparently sells them for millions but then we assume we've sold players for the lowest amounts, or decide that it all must be based on installments and add ons
I honestly think there are about 12-14 clubs in the mix who think they will have a chance of at least top 6 and by the end of the season there will be very little in it
Crawley have signed Defender Toby Mullarkey from Grimsby for an undisclosed fee.
They have also signed Midfielder Gavin Holohan on a free, also from Grimsby.
Losing all their best players, and bringing in 2 from Grimsby...
Both strange ones as well. Holohan is 32, after leaving Irish football 6 years ago has spent all that time in non-league or League Two. Mullarkey is 28, last season was his first in the football league, before that all non-league.

lately Lincoln have had a succession of very good keepers, including Jensen and a couple of young loanees from WBA .. I still think that we need a quality keeper yet hope that Mannion (know zero about him) is that player
Jensen and Langstaff are very good signings for a top league 1/lower championship team. I'm not convinced they're much higher than that so I'm not sure how much ambition that shows Millwall as having
Langstaff is an interesting one, 700k seems cheap but stepping up two levels is a lot - unsure if he will have a smooth transition from L2 to Champ but it has been done before.
The Jensen pursuit from Millwall might be explained by Connal Trueman the other senior keeper on their books being injured now. Shame because Jensen would have been very high on my list of keeper targets.

Believe Bialkowski is a free agent.
Bialkowski has been a very good and consistent keeper over the past decade or so .. he is now in his late 30s, and keepers can (supposedly) go on for donkey's years. A short term fix is a possibility, BUT is he really the right fit for us ?

Birmingham? Rotherham?
Also i think you need to look at the players Peterborough have lost. They've lost half of last years first XI.

The thing that concerns me about Mannion, is that he was playing second fiddle to Dimitar Mitov as recently as 22/23, who isn't a particularly outstanding keeper.
Still quite concerned regarding the keepers, and wouldn't be happy with any of them starting first game of the season.

Agreed, but I would be absolutely astonished frankly if the season does actually start with any of them as first choice.

Millwall being quoted 500k for Jensen from Lincoln. I wonder if it's something we could match.
Seems a decent price for a keeper who has only just turned 25 and was the best keeper in the league last season. Will also be familiar playing with Mitchell, and of course, a part of Lincolns excellent defence.
