  • Hector is a perfectly adequate L1 defender. Not a promotion player, but Reading this season will just be thinking of survival.
  • Likes of Hector, Guinness-Walker and Marcus Browne would be fine signings in their situation

Our defence with him in it was far from adequate. There's a reason he's struggling to find a club.
  • Brum have signed Dykes from qpr, presumably because it’s cheaper than paying May goal scoring bonuses
  • Exeter have signed Forward Amani Richards on loan from Leicester.

Unlike some I think on his day he’s a good defender however he doesn’t have many of his days much and always seemed like he was on a beach somewhere mentally rather than putting any effort in on the pitch.
  • Wigan have signed Jensen Weir from Brighton for an undisclosed fee. The midfielder started his career at Wigan, making his debut at 15.

  • Less than 17 hours in the window to go. We should comfortably pass 250, but how many deadline day deals will we see?

For reference on deadline day last summer we saw 28 arrivals into League One.
  • Will Reading finally be able to sign someone? That's the biggest (non Charlton) L1 story for me

  • First deal of the day. Birmingham have signed Winger Scott Wright from Rangers for an undisclosed fee.

Apparently Selles said yesterday the only reason they let Azeez go was because they thought they had EFL approval to replace him. They then were told that wasn't the case and someone at Reading basically f****d up.

That must have been heartbreaking for them. What a mistake to make!

Dembele replacement after he moved to Oxford yesterday I guess. That squad is still looking bloated to me
  • Deal number 250 of the window.

Wrexham have signed Striker Mo Faal from West Brom, for an undisclosed fee. Reported to be £500K.

Birmingham bid 9-10 million for Jay Stansfield.

    Jesus.
  • £9-10m??!?? I rate Stansfield as a player but that's insane. Alfie might be phoning Michael Duff at this rate.

They've been searching for a striker. I'm not that's the "big name" they might have been targeting though.

Feels like a who's available late in the window deal ,  not someone I'd count as a standout signing. 6 in 20 for Walsall last season on loan

They had him on loan last season to be fair, but a ridiculous amount to spend at this level on transfer fees, never mind one player.

Yeah I was just attempting a joke haha. May, Stansfield & Dykes would be some competition though
  • Just feels wrong for League One side to be spending that kind of money as Birmingham are. £13 million already spent this summer I think. Find it sad how this kind of spending behaviour has now arrived in third division.
  • If he signs then where does that leave May?

They won't be spending 9m for Stansfield to sit on the bench that's for sure.
  • It does beg the question why Birmingham didn't spend a bit more last January to avoid relegation in the first place.
    FFP, they're completely unrestricted now.

Which is why when people talk about money limits etc in this league, I don't get it. You seem to be able to spend whatever you like, and Birmingham are doing just that.

But how does this work if/when they go back to the Championship? Surely the expenditure this season will be part of the FFP calculations next year?

Seen Birmingham fans think May will play as a 10. We know how that went under Appleton 😂😂😂

Not quite, shareholders have to make up the shortfall. It's also much easier to spend your way out of L1 than right a sinking ship in the Championship in January.
