I never have trust in any figures the club puts out, that’s not a dig at current regime that applies to all regimes as they all have history of massaging figures.

No idea if that 7,200 is pure sales, or includes all the allocated free offerings to staff, academy, the Trust 500 etc. 800 of those 7,200 could easily be non-sales. So who knows.

There’s a massive challenge to get paying fans through door again and not just giving out freebies.
And the TV deal is not going to help.
  • Anyone know when they will be sent out ? don't want to sound to eager.

    Already had mine.

Connor Coventry delivered it perfectly in a gold envelope.  Landed perfectly symmetrically on the mat with the address the right way up.
  • George Dobson delivered mine whilst on his way to Hungary, think he got lost down in Medway as he's ended up at Wrexham.
  • Our new £2m striker just hand-delivered mine......... sorry was sworn to secrecy and not allowed to say who until it's on the OS.......

An ambulance pulled up with Chuks in it. He took a while but he just about managed to post it through the letter box.

Charlie Methven delivered mine last week when he was out campaigning for the Labour Party, wearing pink chinos and a loose jumper over his shoulder

    A good statement imho.
If Charlton fans want us back in The Championship then we do need to increase revenues.

    Extract from story on OS:

*Season ticket numbers referred to in the story and the graphic refer to total sold tickets and do not include any complimentary tickets (for players’ families, staff etc.)

In fact I'd be surprised if manipulating the figures sold was a sensible plan. The dear old VAT people at HMRC would be wondering why their 16.67% wasn't quite as much as they were expecting.

‘the short term our clear objective is to be in the top three in League One in everything we do, from the performance of the men's first-team‘

Struggling with the short term objective of top three for live attendance in League One.

We were top four for attendance last season, with Derby, Bolton, Portsmouth above us.

Birmingham, Bolton, and Huddersfield will easily be the top three for attendance this season.

Should you be opening the front door when acting so delusionally?

Huddersfield? I thought they didn’t get very big crowds.

Averaged 19,418 last season in Championship.

Wanting to be in the "top three in all areas" is ambitious and a tough target - but we need to be up for a battle on all fronts.  Last season we were 4th on the list of average attendances but two of the three above us went up.  It's quite simple though - Better atmosphere usually brings better results which usually brings more people which makes better atmosphere and so it grows.  Doesn't always work (just ask Bradford - 17,500 average) because it also matters who the players are and the manager obviously.  I think we would all agree there has been a high improvement on these fronts this season so hopefully that's translates  to results

FYI = Last time Huddersfield were in our division they averaged around 14,000 - I would think this is more realistic for them as a League 1 club.  The 19,418 figure includes larger away followings by virtue of the fact they were in the championship and were coming down from the Premier League so probably had a few happy clappers too.

Bolton were boosted by having a great season but there is a growing sense of discontent amongst their fan base because they bottled it.  They will be tough to beat on the pitch as ever but also will be well supported though I expect their numbers will drop slightly.

Birmingham are hugely well supported however they are still a basket case of a club and their idea of throwing money at it to get out of the division might just bite them on the arse.  Their fans seem to think they have won the league already and it's a foregone conclusion.  Their arrogance will win them no fans and they will be everyone's "scalp" this season

Rotherham are likely to be a strong team but their fanbase hovers around 10,000

So realistically it's between us and Huddersfield to see who gets third in the Attendance race with Brum and Bolton likely to be at the top end

But thinking realistically if we are having a better season and are challenging at the pointy end of the table - where I bloody hope we will be - it's surely achievable to be in the realm of 16,500 - 17,000 on average.

Of course we need the revenue because the more we make the more we can spend - but the only thing that REALLY matters at the end of the day is the number in the "Points" column on the league table come next May.  So let's get bums on seats, create a great atmosphere and make The Valley a fortress that nobody likes to come to.

Both Brum and Bolton have sold 15k plus season tickets - over double our sales, which really puts it into perspective!

I hope so but Im not so sure, even in the final weeks of 18/19 when we were clearly on a promotion run (we won all 6 of our final home games), we still didn't get more than 12k.

I think it would need a season in the style of 11/12 to hit 16-17k regularly.

Neither have been nowhere near as shit as we have been for the last four/five seasons.
