To be fair, Millwall are run well with a little money to spend I suspect so will be interesting to see how he does and whether he still leaves a lot of the transfer dealings to the end of the window. I suspect that was driven by circumstance with us. I think he and we needed a change when he left but he will always be in credit for the team he put together in our play off winning season and for being a decent fella.
I spoke to Steve fairly regularly as I suggested a number of players. at the. Ipswich away game at the end of 21/22 season he told me the positions he was looking to fill in the squad. He also told me the purchasing budget was zero. Not a penny.
Try convincing players to come to you for short buttons, with a lunatic owner and for free.
Steve Gallen was a good guy, a well connected guy who was undermined s I’ve by his boss and below by his boss’ son. Safe to say that’s why his performance appeared to fail off! Hands not wands
Impressive performance when it was SG and LB together without interference. If he has that sort of role/influence again the Lions are in for a treat.
When was that? Or do you think Roland, Katrien and little Tommy weren’t interfering?
Thats not a knock on what the pair of them achieved at the time, but it was despite the interference, not because there wasn’t any.
There was very little interference in our 18/19 promotion season and the summer of our championship season. Pretty sure Bowyer and maybe Gallen have both confirmed this, Bowyer even said he preferred to work under Roland than Sandgaard because of this
Roland had given up at that stage, so there was no interference but also very little budget, Gallen and Bowyer worked miracles in both seasons
