Looks like it needs a hell of a lot of quality additions.
  • Mitchell, Small and Leaburn really need signing up longer term.  Then 7-10 incoming first teamers with quality so most of the squad can drop to second choice.

AMB is also a +1 year option too.

Lots of work to do this summer with moving players on and bringing the quality in.

I went off the OS article which didn’t mention an optional year. Assume you’ve heard or seen confirmation elsewhere?

    Blimey!
I wouldn’t rely on any of those central midfielders! Stark seeing it like that.

Transfermarkt has 2026 with the option of another year. The article could also be read as that by saying “keeping him at Charlton until at least 2026” without saying about the extra optional year. However, you might be right and it could only be until 2026. Always had it in my mind as 2026 +1 option.

When they use the “at least” wording I do wonder if they mean there’s an unmentioned optional year.

I’ve looked back at one of the older squad lists and his previous contract was to 2023 plus an optional year, so it could be leftover from that.

I think there should be a word of congratulations for Mr and Mrs Unknown, who've managed to produce six players for the U21 squad.  A remarkable achievement.

(If you're reading this, you couldn't manage one more, could you?  Preferably a goalkeeper).

You can make that 7 with Mason Hunter (CB, not a GK).

Irrespective of any new signings (except for keeper), that is a decent squad and it'll be up to Nathan Jones to get the best from it

Really?  New keeper apart it is the same squad as last season (minus Dobson, Hector and Thomas who all played a part) which finished 16th in the worst L1 for many years.
This year's L1 looks a huge step up to me and our squad as it stands today with no CBT and no Dobson would get relegated because it is shit.

so you don't think that a team like (e.g.) ..

Isted (or a new keeper) ..
    Jones, Gillesphey, Edmonds-Green ..
Ramsey, Anderson, Coventry, Taylor, Small ..
May, Kanu (or a fit Leaburn) could do the business ?

Probably finish between 8th and 12th
    Definitely no higher.

Was hoping you were being tongue in cheek but actually think you’re serious. All about opinions of which I respect, mine is that squad of players would be even closer to relegation than last season without any further additions. And they have to be real quality ones for that too.

No depth in CM, even with Berry signing.

Plenty more work to do across most positions, and probably a lot of changes in CM with more signings and a few outgoings.

Huke and Toure have signed new 1 year deals with a club option of a further year.

  • That's good news.
Let's hope Leaburn, Small and Mitchell all follow on...
