So the big Rui Pinto announcement was……….

ro announce he’s set up a go fund me for €3m because he now fears for his life and reckons the Portuguese government have thrown him to the wolves.

    That’s a bit of an anti-climax

I really really really don't understand the stance of those that have said 'but look what they've done for Manchester!'.
Yes, they've built a new Co-op Arena and created some new jobs etc, but they have built it literally using the fraudulent funds of a State.

Pablo Escobar apparently did wonders for the Colombian lower class, but it still doesn't make the assassinations and bombings any less of a horrendous crime (not comparing mass murder to to a sheikh having deep pockets, but the double standards are mental).
Agreed - even more shocking is that we have to rely on foreign investment to provide facilities for our cities.
But here is another angle on that. The cost of converting the Manchester stadium for football was just £20m, and I am not even sure we taxpayers paid that, if Sheikh Mansour spent the best part of a billion on the surrounding area. Easy to affirm though.

It is equally easy to affirm who picked up the £323m bill for converting the Olympic Stadium to the spec.of Gullivan/Brady, the Great British patriotic owners of West Ham. It was you, me and most everyone here. And we continue to pay the shortfall on the repair and renovations bill, each year.

Now, what investment did Gullivan/Brady make in the surrounding area to show their gratitude? I am not aware of a single penny.

They did however show their gratitude to the Tory Party by way of a £20m donation, and the goodwill feedback loop continued  when in turn that cow Brady was made a Baronness, again at your and my expense.

    Worth pondering.

Other than Man city fans, the Ex Mayor of Manchester and companies who do business with the Abu Dhabi group and Emirates airlines which is wholly owned by the Government of Dubai and you can see that it's a small minority who support the actions of the UAE power magnates.

I did only hate Chelsea for their cheating under Abramovich but City have trumped the odious south west London club who at least reported themselves but the Adu Dhabi arrogance is sickening when hearing their comments of innocents.

PM Burnham  is in an awkward position now as billions of pounds into various UK projects(Not just Manchester)could be pulled.

The UK is a tried and tested safe haven for overseas investors, particularly so for those from parts of the world where it is less safe in an increasingly unsafe world and more so now it looks like the bullshit of the UK would never rejoin the EU is finally being dropped - we were
always going to rejoin, it’s only ever been a question of when and which of the various political parties do it. If the Abu Dhabi money slows down or stops it’ll be because they no longer have it, or as much of it, and not because of Man City getting fined and/or sanctioned. They will continue to invest here because they will need our military backing and support. Get that, however limited, and it makes it more likely that the US military gets a positive outcome when it intervenes.

The PM isn’t really in an awkward position because the outcomes of the disciplinary process have nothing, and should have nothing, to do with him or the government.

He only ends up in an awkward position if he blunders into it - his clumsily worded statement the other day being an example. I think he’ll learn from that and leave the process to run its course. If the UAE throw their toys out of the pram then so be it, we’ll cope.

What this take account of is that Man City effectively inflated the whole market. So all other clubs were basically overpaying in attempt to compete. Not just in transfer fees but also wages. Not just in Premier but there would have been a knock on in Championship.

  • The old ‘we didn’t qualify for Europe and get the extra money that goes with it but we went out and spent it anyway’ argument. Brilliant. Maybe Charlton's owners could consider doing something similar…’we didn’t get promoted to the PL last season and get the extra revenues that goes with it but when all the teams that finished above us eventually get sanctioned for spending too much we can argue we should have been promoted.’ 😁

This is only up to 2018 though. It's a pretty fair assumption that they didn't just stop then and they've made a hell of lot of domestic transfers since then.

The 100m for Grealish no doubt helped Villa's PSR issues. And just in the past year they've spent about 400m to sign Semenyo, Guehi, Anderson, Ndiaye and Enzo all from other English teams.

The figure that has been put out there regarding the scale of the financial benefit City got from their 'disguised funding' cheating (£830.6m over nine seasons, from 2009-10 to 2017-18) would have been sufficient for them to have bought every single one of the most expensive European signings in each of those seasons, which included Neymar's €222 million transfer to PSG. And that's on top of their actual spending during that period. Absolutely mind-blowing!

I hope yesterday's result against Liverpool has the effect on the FPL that it had on every supporter of other clubs and kicks them into action.

The arrogance of the Citeh fans is astonishing and the players aren't far behind.

With any luck this result will piss people off in the decision making process and say "they need to be brought down a peg or two"

but I won't hold my breath
