1408 Charlton supporters responded to CAST's 2024 season ticket and attitudes survey which ran from 23rd May to 4th June.
66% of respondents had already purchased a season ticket and a further 2% said they definitely would buy one. This is the highest figure (68%) since CAST began conducting this annual survey. The figure is in sharp contrast to last season when just 12% had already purchased and 22% said they definitely would. (total 34%), albeit we ran the survey at an earlier point.
25% of respondents said they would definitely not buy or were unlikely to buy. Reasons for not buying a season ticket were predominantly personal - live too far away 39%; other commitments prevent me from attending regularly 27%; personal circumstances - e.g. health, age 21%. Affordability was only cited by 17% and uncertainty about kick off times because of the Sky deal was 14%.
7% said they were undecided about buying a season ticket. When asked what would make them more likely to buy, 75% said new signings and belief in the squad and management; 34% said clarity about kick off times; 29% said more clarity from the owners on future plans.
11% of respondents who didn't have a season ticket last season have already bought one for next season. 79% of this group cited belief in the management of Nathan Jones as their reason with 59% wanting to show commitment to the club's future.

44% of the respondents are over 65, while just 20% are under 45.
Does that reflect the wider supporter base, or are CAST members more likely to be older?0 -

Be interested how many of the 1409 are Charlton Life users. I was "struck" by the stat 95% identify as white British. As one of the 5%, I am sure there is more context for this figure, but nonetheless there remains a massive challenge to be inclusive.
I am sure that a disproportionate number of white British would respond to the survey. Iwould be interested in Heather's view0 -
Where was the survey advertised other than on forums like this?
Above stats highlight how it has completely missed young fans. I expect the amount of under 30s that responded make up less than 10%.Need to start engaging them via channels they use like tik tok / insta.0 -

Think that’s the problem @clive. Young fans don’t visit the official site or use forums.
Their world is insta, tik tok, snapchat etc
I think the results would be very different if we included them. The reality is that us older gen forum users are always going to keep going. We’ve done so for years and were lucky enough to live through the Prem days etc (so we have a bigger / longer affinity with the club).
if you’re a Charlton fan in your 20s that has only ever seen the club is disarray then I expect you would be much more likely to throw the towel in & call it a day.0 -

The same could be said about this forum, when i go to games especially away games, the atmosphere & general feeling i get is completely different from what i read here.
There is now a significant gap between those that attend regularly & those that rely on Charlton TV.3 -

I’m not saying there isn’t any fans in their 20s…..I’m just saying that their views are not represented in this survey (because of how / where it was distributed) I.e I expect many didn’t know about it.Hence why out of the 1400 respondents only 20% were aged under 45. It’s basically a survey that represents the views of 50 - 85 year olds.0

So as there seems to be little interest in the survey by the younger generation, where did CAST get information to think that the following would be a good idea.
Youth Zone
We are pleased to see that the club have followed up on a suggestion from CAST and made a quick first move towards a youth atmosphere zone with an attractive £125 season ticket price for 16-20 year olds.

I would guess we have more signed up younger supporters trust members than most clubs. I signed up when ESI were being dodgy and I think others my age would have done too.1
