  • Stolen valour is one of the most despicable things any man can do.
Strip this lowlife of his pension

He's been dismissed, it's my understanding that happens automatically. I may be wrong.
His pension will be frozen until he reaches the official retirement age of 67.
    His job pension won’t be.

    You are wrong, unfortunately.
And the vetting in the police (like everything else) has been dramatically downgraded. You used to have to wait ages for it all to come back clear before you got anywhere near being employed.
    Not so now.
All of it makes my blood boil.

Thanks, that's a shame. I think it goes back sometime for the vetting system being downgraded, I waited over nine months for SC clearance for an IT contract job with the Met back in 2009. Similarly, three years ago I waited another 4 months for clearance to foster a Kent police puppy.
  • Same, working on MOD in Germany. Took 9 months

I find all this quite extraordinary. (In my old job I had to be positive vetted. I think this has now been replaced by something called an Enhanced Security Check. Same thing different name.) This was a stringent process involving amongst other things a MI5 check and an onerous interview with a specialist investigator from that organisation.

I would be stunned if an individual holding the rank of Chief Constable, who would be highly likely to be in receipt of material designated as top secret, had not been ESC'd.  But nothing wrong was found? Totally bizarre.
Yep, I had the same in my last posting over 15yrs ago.
But all while I was already in post as I had been working in the service for many years.
I can well believe he slipped through the cracks these days, unfortunately.
I assume when he joined he did not declare / reference the awards so it wasn’t an issue?

If he then started to wear medals at various formal functions it was just that and gradually people assumed they were genuine as it became normal to see him with them.

I suppose you don’t challenge what normal decency doesn’t anticipate being abused.

The positive is the whistle blower process worked.

His pension will be frozen until he reaches the official retirement age of 67.
    His job pension won’t be.
The police and fire brigade are on similar pension schemes.
If a firefighter got the sack ( a very rare occurrence) their pension was frozen until they reach the normal retirement age.
If this police chief has paid into his pension scheme for 30 years or whatever he will be entitled to receive it even though he's a complete cock.

Fire-fighter pension is constantly changing.  Two or three new variants in the last decade, no real idea what they mean.

I’ve seen it reported it only potentially gets taken away if it progresses to a criminal conviction. May or may not be accurate.

The whistle blower was his ex-wife apparently.

A chief constable sacked for lying about his military service was caught out when his ex wife blew the whistle, it can be revealed.

    Yes I know mate.
I was lucky that I joined in 1984 on the old scheme.
Done my 30 years and left with a good pension.
You have to do 40 years now to get a full pension so unless you join aged 20 you won't get it.
Before I retired London was taken recruits in their 40s.
Their pensions will not be worth having.
Anyway stay safe and enjoy your retirement when it comes.

Another narcissist slips through the system, but when it comes to vetting police officers, first port of call should be school teachers. Any hint of bullying should be an instant red card. I know a few past and present police and the disparity is obvious. Funnily enough the thugs tended towards firearms and VIP protection, probably boosting their self-importance whilst a good friend was football liaison for Brentford.

I doubt that would be legal.
The person has paid contributions to his pension for 30 years or whatever, if he breaks the law he will be punished.
But I doubt he will lose his pension.

The Crown Prosecution Service is considering a file of evidence which could lead to charges of misconduct in a public office and fraud by false representation - both of which can carry jail terms.

Mr Adderley gets to keep his lucrative police pension which is only forfeited in the event he is found guilty of a criminal offence.

Going back to the election thread, a fair few doctors gave up work due to pension restrictions by the Tories, later retracted. My understanding is that the legislation allowed other well-off individuals to save tax and Labour supported it.

Can anybody explain the issues. I dont like to see rich people dodging tax.

Just a suggesting, but maybe he'll lose the money the police matched it with and only get his own contribution?

Not sure if he'll get the paper shop's contributions to his paper round salary though. I never had paperboy up my shop in Grove Park, next to the station

Not like the Old Bill to lie or try and cover things up, is it?

It's cobblers to think he made it to Chief Constable of Northampton while lying his way to the top job.
He's just like the Small Dick that was in charge at the Met and who was involved in so many controversial actions while brown nosing her way to the top.
I see what you did there.
