Bambi on ice he kept falling over. Really want him to do well but he doesn’t cut it. Leaburn and Godden will be what we need.
Bambi was what got mentioned near me at half time. Think he changed his boots for the 2nd half

Not all bad in the end. As someone said, the candle is flickering. But, my oh my, that miss!! The continually getting his feet tangled up!
I actually saw him way more involved than Godden to be fair. And he didn't hide after firing over from seven yards, but kept making himself available.
Maybe when he gets his first goal, it'll click and he'll settle. But I said that about Makienok, so the jury is our, but displeased.
  • That miss was inexcusable indefensible. He actually won a few headers and knock downs but half the time he gets the ball he falls over. Far from good enough at the minute I’m afraid , trial period is over as far as I’m concerned, he needs to prove himself from the bench now

Yeah, he just failed to get on the end of his own cross which flashed across the box.
Doesn’t change the fact that he is shit, Makienok had more of a presence
    Makienok was 8ft20

He won a few headers today but spent most of is time on the floor.

Just not good enough i'm afraid. I get the feeling we were sold a pup.

The first 30 seconds of the highlights are not kind to Ahadme. How does he not even get the first header on target? Barely connects with it

I thought he put the second chance 4 yards over the bar, didn't realise it was more like 14 yards
  • Looks a run of the mill lower league striker who just works hard. Imagine his ability in the air probably is enough to make him a league player and not non-league. Think he’s technically a very poor player with poor decision making.

Will always be a space for him at clubs because of his work rate.

His real challenge now to try and keep his confidence because, I think most have decided he’s not good enough. 5 games without a goal, could easily be 10+ game.
  • The worry is a 4 year contract. Tells us we thought he could play in the championship.

Like Kirk and Fraser, we will have real  difficulty offloading this absolute carthorse.

You sure we haven’t got Tedic back?

Thought today was the best I've seen of him, however he missed two good chances the header and the shot. Some nice flick ons and worked hard but he won't score many goals

For a giant who looked like one of Thor’s nephews, Makienok got bullied far too easily

We all want him to be any good, but he isn't being.
Amongst others wouldn't Kanu starting be at least as good, and very probably better than Gass?

He can run all day, he was better in the air today (their centre backs weren’t the biggest) but he is just not good enough with his feet. Missed a sitter and couldn’t hold anything up. Made such a difference having Aneke on who can actually retain the ball when it’s played to his feet

    Pawel Abbott all over again.

Not having the “he wins headers and works defenders” shouts. Put Lloyd Jones up front and he’d win headers.

Probably finish a few of the chances Ahadme had yesterday too.

Looking at the highlights, was that a ‘sitter’?

Yo be fair, he showed in a few bits of play demonstrating what we probably saw in him. But there wasn't enough. I'm not writing him off but I think we need to use him from the bench and that might be his way into form. In terms of the miss, it looked like he was trying to make a putt when there was enough space to kick the ball into an area just keeping it down.

    Yes

  • He’s got to hit the target there

    Fucking Donkey.
No way is he good enough for a team that wants to get promoted
Ticks the work rate box and that's about it. Spent as much time on his ass (including from running forwards) as he did in the air contesting duals.

The miss sums him up I think it's obvious where this is going.

tbh I was also sitting there yesterday wondering if such hideous hoof ball would also make Miles look poor.

I think he's seen the defender coming in and tried to lift it because if he knows if he plays it low the defender will get a block in. The problem is he's panicked and over-corrected to blast it high. I don't think it's the absolute cert people are making out, it's nowhere near as bad as Chuks somehow managing to not put a simple header in from 2 yards and instead putting it wide, but Chuks scored and has a decent history with us so the criticisms get applied inconsistently. Ahadme should have put that on target, I'd even rather he'd drilled it into the defender's leg for a block, but the way people queue up to dig out certain players once they realise a pile-on is in the offing is quite unpleasant
Certainly wasn't a 'sitter' but I'd hope he'd hit the target.

The 4 year contract seems very generous.

The aim has to be promotion this season so giving him a 4 year contract suggests we think he is good enough for the championship.
Every thing I've seen of him so far suggests he isn't.

Somebody must have scouted him so he has to have played better last season. Reminding me of Tedic so far.

To be fair he was back pedalling to reach it and did well to even make contact and direct it downwards. Not seen the highlights but that’s what I remember from the game.
  • Chuks header. If Gillesphy had called, he had a free header.

Definitely. I think he tried to be a bit cleverer with it but at this stage I'd rather he just did the simple thing. If that gets blocked it's called good defending, and you'd probably have a few people ask why he didn't lift it (we now know why) but sending it into space will always get criticism. The 4 year contract is for our protection given that we paid a fee for him. It's always a gamble; Roland would only really give out 2 year contracts but that meant that if you did have a good player after one season they'd become an easy target for someone else's shopping list and we wouldn't even get a suitable fee. Roland never wanted to be tied in to longer contracts which Sandgaard thought was stupid. The problem was Sandgaard would then give very long contracts to the likes of Kirk and get stuck with a waster.
Ahadme is nearly 24 but he's not really had any long runs in teams in his career apart from last season where he ended up scoring 11 league goals in 29 L1 games. In 11/12 Yann got 12 in 36. Ahadme scored in his first two games for Cambridge and then didn't score again until November so he's a striker who will go on goalless streaks. He's not there as the main goalscorer so that's ok as long as he's offering something else positive in the interim, which he could do better if he stopped falling over with the ball at his feet. I actually think he did that part of his job pretty well in the first half yesterday. He laid a lovely header back for Berry who also ballooned the ball over the bar when his entire role is supposed to be arriving onto flicks like that and putting them away, and also worked himself very well into a position to put the ball across the face of goal but there was no-one there (compare to the stick Ahadme got for not getting onto the end of TC's ball across the face against Reading). He's ungainly and really does need to sort his boots or his legs out on matchdays, there's no way he's doing that in training, but I think he needs time and to calm down a bit. I don't think fans are getting on his back too badly in the stadium yet but it will make a world of difference if he can just get that first goal and then start playing some tidier football along with the rest of the team. Fingers crossed we'll be happy about the 4 year deal down the line.
  • How have we paid a million for him?  Do we not scout players thoroughly?
