This was posted on the Charlton LinkedIn. Does it worry anyone else? Also saw the socks will now be used as ad space which made I larf. Let's all kick off!

CAST have asked the club for more information about this. (Stadium naming / stand sponsorship, not the socks to be clear.)0

Why is it a problem if it provides income?2

Give it to a pharma co and let them call it the Valley-um

The Valley has been the Toughsheet stadium for years....1

We're losing @£10M pa.
I think we should be exploring every avenue to raise more revenue.
It's better than hiking admission prices.7 -
Toolstation Valley what is your breaking point.

Can we be sponsored by a landlocked African country, and call it Chad Valley?7

Never liked stadiums being named, especially when they then change every 3 or 4 seasons. The Valley is The Valley...end of.
Also stands. 2 of ours are named after very successful managers. Wouldn't sit right having the other 2 named after a DIY store and a Betting Company.4 -
If it brings in £££'s and it still has The Valley in the title then what is the issue?

I would prefer it didn’t happen, but understand the need for additional revenue.Ultimately, everyone will just call it the Valley anyway regardless of any naming deal.6

I have no beef with the idea while we are still in the lower leagues, as mentioned above club is losing £10mill a year, it can be changed when we reach the Premier again.0

The (insert brand name) Valley or Jimmy Seed Stand sponsored by (insert brand name) = OK, rather we didn't have to but we need the money
"The Insert Brand Name Stadium" = No way.
They struggled to find many additional LED or static board advertisers last season anyway so in the current economic climate (no party politics, please) and league position, unless it is a dodgy betting or crypto firm, I doubt they'd be able to sell those rights at a fee to make it worthwhile.2 -

Regardless what happens, it'll always be known as the Valley to me. Ironically I'll always see that Arsenal's stadium will be known as the Emirates, if ever they change their Stadium Sponsor.
Bolton's again the Reebok Stadium rather than any other Sponsored company.0 -
I find that the LED lights distract me from the football when they have bright colours and start flashing them.0

I'm not a fan of selling stadium naming rights, however I am pragmatic enough to understand that a club losing millions every year needs to raise income.
Therefore, providing it's a sensible 'name' from a reputable company (not betting etc) then I'd rather get income into the club than see the club struggle.0
